Transferring saves from PC to PC

Is transferring Skyrim save files from PC to PC as simple as just copying the 'Saves' folder from the source PC to the destination PC after Skryim is installed on both?

since now saves are supposed to be in the steam cloud, (as an option i think), it should be as simple as launching steam on the new pc and the save is supposed to be available.
but otherwise, i'm pretty sure that a save contains all data necessary for playing yeah.
the only thing to be mindful of is that if you have some mod which add additional data to your save, you should have the same mods on the other computer otherwise you could have some strange side effects.

I'll make sure to have the same mods installed. I just don't want to have to start over.

You shouldn't have to start over.

I transferred my saves from one PC to another two days ago. I didn't have the same mods on both computers and after 2-3 minutes of game play the screen would turn black (or white with fine vertical lines.) I deleted the two .ini files from the save folder in My Documents, restarted and everything has been fine ever since. Keep that in mind if you experience the same black/white screen lock-ups.

As long as you are only copying your \saves folder and not the ini files, you should be fine. If you copy over ini files to a computer for which they have not been created, you risk running into problems such as application crashes. I've backed up and restored my saves numerous times as part of the beta process (and at other times before and since) by using this procedure and I've never used the Steam cloud.

Yes, my understanding was that if I copy the 'Saves' folder from my old PC, and everything in it, to my new one, it will work fine. I hope that is the case.

Is that your method? Are the ini files inside the Saves folder?

Yes, copying the saves folder is the method to which I was referring. The ini files are not contained in the saves folder, but they are in the same folder as the saves folder. Both the ini files and the saves folder are contained in the \My Documents\My Games\Skyrim folder.
