Translating the Dragonstone

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 11:03 pm

Title says it all. So far, nobody has completely translated the Dragonstone.
For reference, here is the Dragonstone, untranslated:

HET NOK UN
DahMaaN DROGGE
ERei SULeyK SE
ALDUIN VOKRii

Here is the Dragonstone, partially translated:

Here lie UN
DahMaaN Lords
ERei power of
Alduin VOKRII

I do have some ideas. VOKRii = VO + KRii = (opposite of) kill. This could mean resurrect or return, depending on the context of the poem.
DahMaaN most likely means fallen. Reason: Wah = "build", WahLaan = "built"; Mah = "fall", so logically MahLaaN = "fallen".
UN is most likely a word like "the", "our", etc. However, it could be a name.
ERei is the tricky one. The closest existing word is ReiN, which means "roar", however this may be a coincidence.

M'aiq has already translated the Dragonstone. It has nothing to do with Alduin.

MahLaaN translates into Fallen AND Remembered, thats a tricky one.. most like fallen though, UN could either be a name or a spelling mistake, possible meangin to say LUN meaning Leech, (remember originally a Dragonpriest was supposed to come out of the coffin according to the demo videos, a Dragonpriest is a type of Leech)

VOKRii literally translates into Unkill, so yeah, ressurect.

DahMaaN means Remember..

And if, like you say UN means our (i doubt it means the)

It could say

Here lie our
remembered/fallen Lords
ERei power of
Alduin ressurected

ERei could mean anything from fear or welcome [the] power if Alduin ressurected

I know. I did about a third of those. The dragonstone is something else.

You're confusing "lich" and "leech". It's an interesting idea, but I doubt it. And I'm pretty sure you're mixing up "MahLaaN" and "DahMaaN". DahMaaN = "remember", MahLaaN most likely equals "fallen".

BTW, like the username. "The Elder Scroll"

But he's a liar.
