Triggering Veronica's Quest

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 2:10 am

Heya,

I've been trying to trigger Veronica's quest but I'm not having any luck. First I tried going to the locations to trigger the quest as described by the fallout wikia...no luck.
The Fallout wikia says something about going to Gibsons shack and using the terminal there and downloading the data to trigger the quest...but apparently the terminal needs a key to use but I cannot find that key anywhere.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Side notes:
I already did the Helios One quest before I met Veronica (dunno if that matters)
I did all the Brotherhood quests so far (exept Veronica's quest)
...and thats about anything I can think of thats related.

This might be a stupid question, but you do have Veronica with you when you do these things, right?

LOL

But seriously...

Spoiler
I finished MANY of the games quests before I decided to do the other companion quests. The way I got Veronica's quest to trigger was that I went to Camp McCarran.

Not sure what I did there, but as we were leaving the terminal building, she started talking about how many troops the NCR had, and how the BoS could never win with the strategy they were using, etc.

EDIT: I may have talked to or tried to talk to Col. Hsu

Then she asked to visit the BoS bunker at Hidden Valley. She met with Hardin (I had actually installed him as Elder), and tried to get them to listen.

After that, she tells you where to go, and it's all marked out for you.

All did was take her to (insert the name of the NCR fort that has a tram to the strip here), and it triggered it after we left.
I had also just taken the NCR quest to get the info on the Vegi Vault so that could have triggered it also.
She just goes on a kinda tangent about how the NCR are building new tech faster then the BoS can gather old tech.

The reason I asked is that, from my understanding, the terminal at the shack should read Veronica as being the missing key. You might be the proud owner of a unique glitch.

Try firing and then rehiring her and doing some of the triggers again, or maybe reloading a save if you don't lose too much progress. Or just try keeping her in tow for a few unrelated quests, maybe it will sort itself out. If not, hopefully someone here will figure something out in the interim.

Well...out of time for today. I'll try some of your suggestions tomorrow. Thanks for the help so far.

A small note about going to Camp McCarron - if you take her there, go in through the middle of the three doors or the far left one, she sometimes bugs and does not recognize entry through the right hand doorway. Another place I got her to trigger was going into the Silver Rush (no quest required, they just have to be alive and selling).
