Trolling- the best way to do all dark brotherhood quests

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 2:57 am

No realy..Nearly every dark brotherhood quest can be done (without getting a bounty) by telling your victim that you intend to kill them. Then they try to fight you and because they started it- you get no bounty. I found that i could walk onto pirate ships unhindered, walk up to the people in the middle of the town.. the middle of a caravan group.. oh.. it works for about 90% of their quests.

Is that a gameplay fault?

Yeah... you know, it might've been a better idea to have them go inform the guards. Maybe.

(I'd say it's a fault.)

Minor flaw but that's not how you should be doing the quests, the NPC's should be dead before they can react.

WOW RLY??? I've been trying to snipe them from afar or something, or kill them but I keep getting bounties! I got to try that more often!

There is only one that you can't avoid getting a bounty on. The rest of them you can assassinate and get away undetected.

I perfer my victims never know it's coming.

Kill them up close and personal, use a dagger. Pay off the fine. Your a professional hitman, act like it.

A nice arrow from a roof top works just as well.

How about reverse-pickpocketing a poison? You can't possibly be caught that way, can you?

If you shoot an arrow from far enough, will you avoid a bounty? I'm planning on avoiding any witnesses/bounties to really RP an assassin. If you get caught too often, then realistically (not ingame) your face would become pretty infamous for that sort of thing and you'd be a fair bit less effective, imo.

If you go into sneak mode, you can be sure of whether or not anybody sees you. Basically, if you kill someone while the sneak meter is closed ("hidden") you won't get a bounty.

Bounty or not, sometimes you still get Hired Thugs sent after you, though.

If you pay attention to the DB members it's pretty clear being an assassin doesn't have to revolve around sneaking up on someone and knifing them in the back, walking up to someone and provoking them is just as legitimate. Multiple times they tell you to do it how you want, to have fun with it.

I was thinking close to the same. I cleared these with no bounties. Who did you have difficulty with, Haleand? Maybe it was a play-style issue?

Eh, I got a bounty killing the goons Maro sends after you on the bridge while you're escaping the assassination of the false emperor. How did you work around that?

Exactly, how did all you super assassins get around the bounty after killing the false Emperor?

I kill and never get a bounty.. but no body sees me either.. 100 stealth, nightingale armor, and the vampire stealth bonus.. i can sneak in a well lit room right in front of someone and they wont see me. I take whole rooms out that way. By time someone goes to investigate why their friend died, they get dropped too.. up close, and personal.. how i like it. Get caught? Calm them or have a rune sat up ahead of time to run past.

You must kill ALL of them. No witness, no bounty. The goons will sometimes show up as enemies on your radar later on, but haven't attacked me yet.

Yes that's how the bounty system works, problem is I did kill them all.

Someone (a guard on the wall further into town?) saw you. Maybe you have to be crouched down? Maybe you have to kill everyone in the dining room too? I went kind of murder happy when I did this quest, and killed everyone from the dinner table on, including my helpful cook friend.

Edit: Maro runs away, right away. You have to kill him, too, as he is a witness. You may have to find him later on the docks to do so.

To kill an empire, when you leave you always get a bounty. Least I never figured out a way around it since it is a "cut scene".

I have no bounty leaving, the cut scene gives me a bountry, but I will be invisible whe it starts, and my eye never opens. So technically, I was never spotted but...

Wow are you guys attacking your targets out in public or something?

The best way to assasinate is to wait till your target is alone...

DB quest are too easy, the only time I got a bounty was killing the emperor's cousin.

I got a 1,000 gold bounty even though I was muffled, in sneak mode, and invisible from killing Nazeem.....I also dual shot an incenerate on him and I have silent casting perk.

So.... wait. Y'all are assassinating folks for pay (or whatever reward....) and you're complaining that folks see it as illegal and you wind up with a bounty? You (as a character) will never know really if someone sees your evil deed....

Even if I get a bounty, I just pay the Thieve's Guild rate and walk on. 90 percent of the time, I just sneak up and gank them from behind. I shot the caravan guy from the hill, then walked down past the guard and bought stuff from them.

well I agree that we do get bounties. But how are we getting them when "no one sees or hears us"
