What the F* is a trophy or achievement and why should I want one?

It's a little thing some gamers like to collect, and nobody's saying you have to want one.

I pretty much ignore the achievements as well. To me it's about immersion ... not a beeline to the next spot in Skyrim to clear achievements.

You get them if your playing on a console.

You also get them if you are playing on a PC, there are just no point value

@ OP: Achievements are just little side goals that the developer made up, they are completely optional, no one is making you get them. I got them all, just because they add something else to do (Like grinding all the way up to level 50)

They just up your gamer score and you get them for completing certain things. I collect them, but they don't have as much weight in the elder scroll series. Not like the achievments you get on Army of Two or Gears of War or other shooters.

So after you get them what do you do with them? Are they worth money? Discounts? Free coupons?

I think their worth brownie points with other ppl that collect them. monetary? I seriously doubt it.

They are connected to your steam account I think.
