Trouble adding a NPC to a caravan

Hello all,

I'm trying to add a new follower to a khajiit caravan. I simply created my NPC and added him in a new quest alias in the "Caravans" quest, using the exact same options as the others caravan followers, same packages, etc.
I also placed my actor in the same cell as the rest of the caravan.

Everything works fine when I "COC" to the caravan start cell : my new follower follows the caravan, sandbox properly in the different camps, etc.
But if I check "ingame" (i mean on one of my saves, with a real character), the new follower sticks in his starting cell, and never tries to follow the caravan leader.

Any idea why it works when i test it on a "clean" game, and not on a previous save ? Thanks !

Many things do not work with Saved Games ... because scripts/aliases/other-stuff get saved into the same game (stupid, we all know).

So, what you have is probably the best you can do ... many MODs are not Save-Game compatible

(I don't know if you can make yours compatible ... but I know the Khajiit quests quite well, and I doubt that you can, from what I know of them).


You might try making your own Quest (just for your "caravan follower") rather than including it in the Vanilla Quests ... but it might be quite hard to figure out how (it can be done, though ... I have done that when adding functions to the caravans) - If you make your own Quest/Functions it should then be Saved-Game compatible (well, could be might be a better way to put it).

Wow, really ? I can't believe there's no way to update an already running quest. :blink:
I'll try to make a custom quest for the follower, as you suggested.
