Trying to raise the ratio of melee:gun enemies

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 1:24 am

Using "VJackalGangNRPersMaleE" as an example, his inventory lists "LL1WeapTier2AdventurerLoot". There's 3 entries, all level 1, the 1st and third are 10mm pistols and the second is a cowboy repeater. I'm wondering if that means there's an equal chance of spawning only one of the items (so 66.6% chance of getting the 10mm), or if there's a chnce of spawning more than one item, if so what's the chance? If it's the former and say I wanted it to be 3 times as likely to spawn a melee fighter than a gunner, is it as simple as putting 3 melee entries and one firearm entry?

Cancel that, it seems easier to add a melee level list with a chance none of 0 and a gun level list with a chance none of 75 to the NPCs inventory.

Make sure you give them some fire axes, seems to be one of the only melee weapons worth fearing.

I've just finished the Fiend's inventorys, Fire Axes, Rippers and Chainsaws. This is going to be a lot of fun with Increased wasteland spawns high setting.

"throw in some thrown weapons, so far i havent seen npcs use them. get it? throw in...thrown weap...sigh...never mind "

Horrible, horrible pun, but a damned good idea :P I reckon that'd fit the Great Khans pretty well.

So far I've got:

Powder Gangers with weakish melee weapons, but lots of dynamite.
2nd gen Super Mutants with heavy two handed melee weapons, with big guns support.
Night Kin don't get as many big guns because of the stealth.
Fiend's/Raider's have the cool damaging melee weapons.
Khan's are going to carry melee and thrown weapons.
Boomers could be Powder Gangers mk2, with frags and explosive weapon support.
NCR and BoS can stay pretty much as original, I think the firepower suits them.
That leaves Legion, Vipers and Jackals, that I'm not sure of. Particularly the Legion, since they're meant to be taking on the NCR's firepower...

I've noticed a few NPC entries that have no loot tables. usually the ones using a template prefixed by VAR. For example "VViperGangSpawnNRGunE" has no items and it's template it "VarVViperGangGunE". The template doesn't appear to be in the NPC lists either, so what're they used for?
