Turn off Kill Move?

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 3:16 pm

Hi.

I find the new Kill Move for magic extremely annoying. I never liked any kill moves to be honest, but magic is just the worst.
Is there any way to turn Kill Moves off?

I wish, but sadly there isn't.

There may be a debate about whether or not your kill cam or the archery kill cam is the worst.

However, I'm in favor of being given a toggle on/off option - I want to turn mine off. Archery kill cams are very distracting for some reason, at least to me.

I didnt mind the melee one to be honest but the magical one is terrible. It kicks in when creatures are not killed by the spell throwing you out of your rhythm. It also has the annoying effect of making my mouse buttons freeze for a second or two afterwards so i'am unable to cast again until it clears.

I'm not against the idea entirely but it needs to be better than it is now.

You're not alone. Including ranged kill cams was one of the most idiotic decisions to date. But apparently there were so many people who wanted them, that I can't begin to ask myself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5mLjKI968g

I like the ones for melee, since there is some kind of variety in the moves, but just slow motion shots of your character firing his bow? F*** it! At least give those of us, who hate them (and yes, I hate them, since today they came three times for the same enemy before it was dead!) the ability to turn them off, when others want them...

There is an ongoing petition to patch in a toggle option for kill cams.

Dude, some people don't like it, when you force stuff on them, they don't want...

This can be seen as "constructive criticism" in a way. Add a toggle and every f***** player is happy! And we aren't that much of a minority. I'd guess that at least 33% of the players don't like kill cams! I mean honestly, how many posts have you seen that said "Yeah, new ranged kill cams, awesome" and how many that read "Damn, I want to toggle this sh*t off".

*throws skyrim out* there we go, no more stupid stuff i have to deal with!

...no, that will not work because TES will still become an idiot's game when it was the best series out there, i miss the best

on-topic: i hate kill cams more than anything (in skyrim) and refuse to patch up. i dont care if they fix every other thing they broke with skyrim i will not patch up untill those ungodly annoying things are gone

I don't have anything against the concept of finishers, but they are just terribly executed in Skyrim.
When playing in 1st person, all finishers should stay in 1st person (also horse riding, alchemy, enchanting, smithing, being a werewolf and all other forced 3rd person crap)!
I also think that there should be a toggle option for people who can't stand them.
Also, lot of finishers are simply too long and break the flow of the battle.

This might be too obvious, but if you're on the computer can't you just type set killmoverandom to 0?

Finishing moves, by very definition, should only occur at the end of combat... not during.

Sure, or download a mod. However, if you not on computer you are S.O.L.

I rather mod the game to my liking. That's what PC players do

That's not a solution since lot of people play on consoles.
And what about people like me who have nothing against finishers, but want then to stay in 1st person (like rest of the forced 3rd person crap).

Actually, by very definition, they should only occur when you deal finishing blow to an enemy.

If these kill cams didn't exist, there would be a whole bunch of people here criticizing Bethesda for not implementing them, calling them "ret@rd"... You shouldn't allow your pleasure to be spoilt by such tiny trivial details.

You open the console and type

set killmoverandom to 0

if you want to have 0 chances to have kill cams.

Does that apply to all types of kill moves? (Melee, ranged, magic)

Does it stay that way through all my characters, or do I need to do it once per character?

Does it save with my characters save file, or do I have to type it every time I start the game?

I honestly can't believe they didn't make a toggle haha. Its funny how much Beth is narrowing the choices in their series.

I agree, there should be an option in the menus to turn them off. Although I like them.

This console command doesn't do jack in my game. I still get these annoying kill cams all the time.
