Two seemingly unrelated questions.

Okay, so I've been working on my Underground Fortress for a while now, and I'm at an impasse. I can't figure out one problem, and I can't decide between two ideas.
Problem:
I have an Altar (self-made, of course) in the Bedroom that is inside the Fotress. This Altar has a rug in front of it. I have a Kneeling Marker on the rug, but I have no idea on how to make it work.

Idea:
In order to decorate the house, I currently have it to where you just pay the Servant 5000 gold for each thing. That's cool and all, for testing, but I want to know if I should make it to where you just pay him, and it's all done, or to where you have to get some stuff, like a crate with different names (ex; "Bedroom Furnishings", "Kitchen Furnishings", etc.)?

Thanks for all of your help!

The kneeling marker is actually not for the player, it's for NPC AI. There's no way to force the player to do certain animations like that (although there are several mods that allow you to do so).

Personally, I don't like the "upgrade" dimensions of the house quests. Of course I want all the upgrades! Why do I have to live with a cobweb room if I've already bought the house. But that's just my taste. I actually found it very interesting how they added the furniture in the vanilla houses (attaching the pieces to an activate parent).

See, the house is yours to begin with. I just think that the player ought to pay for the extra cool-ness that it comes with.
Like, for example, the first thing you have to do is build the house servant. The second thing would be to remove the rubble in the house (two huge rocks are blocking two different ends of the house, making it seem incredibly smaller than it is.). Of course, after that you can do the upgrades as you wish. It's still empty, but the servant can fix that. (For a fee, of course.)

Which brings me back to my question -- what should I make the player pay in? Blood? Gold? Skeever tails?!

Anyways, thanks for responding.

One interesting way to do it might be to have some choices. You can either hire a butler or hire a cook, but not both. Or do I build an alchemy lab in this space or a hot tub? Obviously, from a modder's perspective, you don't want to get carried away, but that might be a different spin than the vanilla houses.

Payment wise, if you're building a forge from scratch, don't you need to collect ore, stones, fire glands from dragons, and other things from the real world? Just buying a kitchen like you do in vanilla is fine, but it doesn't get you as invested in your house as maybe being more involved in the building choices.

Hmm... I like that idea.

All right, thanks!
