Ultimate DOOM / DOOM 1

Post » Thu Jul 21, 2011 12:20 am

I know that on id software.com they are selling DOOM 1 as well as others. They also released The Ultimate DOOM for a digital download on gamestop. What i want to know is if they are compatible for windows 7. The reason I ask is i know that some games if they are to old, they may not work on windows seven.(also i do know the digital download on gamestop is Recent because its published by Bethesda)

I know that Steam has all of the id games and they all work wonderfully on Win7. They will proly be having a sale during QuakeCon on Steam as well.

They had a good deal for all of them last week on steam. Steam seems to have it's own dosbox executable for older games.

Steam's Ultimate DOOM works on Win7, I've been playing it. Still the controls are [censored], I mean mouse up for movement forward? Who ever thought that was playable.

Even if they are too old, there are newer fan made doom engines that will run on Windows 7. All you essentially need to purchase is the .WAD file and you're in business. :)

If it doesn't, you can use a sourceport. I recommend http://zdoom.org/News. You can make that look and work exactly like the original (including bugs :hehe:) if you wish.

And that works perfectly with Win 7. I've played trough all of them with it on my Win7 machine.
