umm..is there an ETA?

This

it sounds like a personal problem to me. The patch will come out at the same time as the DLC, so you've got 18 days or so left. just play the game, not everyone has glitches. There's already been one patch, maybe 2.

are you [censored] [censored]? Game saves won't work, I don't have a choice because bethesda decides they just want some nice green bills

@Gunho
You realize you are stretching things quite far? You know quite well that most flame coming out of this issue is from those who had game-breaking issues, and concede that people have them, but please don't make such claims. How do I know you aren't a plant of a competitor company? I can't know and it would be foolhardy of me to make such a claim. I offer you concessions and condolences, but please do offer the courtesy to respect other forum-goers.

I assume to are referring to me...

Actually, I don't 'know' that....the folks with problems tend to rant. The flamebaiting tends to come from the 'I'm alright...@#$$%^ you, Jack' folk who aren't experiencing major problems (some of them, not most of them).

I apologise if you took offence...as I haven't read any of your posts I assume you've been quite vocal on the issue to raise that.

My point is that there have been a lot of people who have blindly criticised those of us who have had major issues, simply on the basis that they aren't happy with people complaining, and have come up with (in a number of cases) wild claims to support themselves.

I can assure you, I am a far greater threat to Beth and Obs than any competing company....I am a consumer who buys their games.

Edit:

Actually, my point was about respect as well...respecting that people who have issues can raise them without being shot down by someone who, for some reason or other, does not like to see their beloved games company criticised. And, in fact, those of us with problems probably have more justification for posting in a thread about problems, than does someone who does not experience them.

I might also point out that I have seen this 'phenomena' occur regularly on release of something, whether it is on this board or others.

@Gunho
I mostly just spectate and observe topics. The problem is that some, not saying all do so, instead of reporting issues / checking if others have the same issue / creating or partaking in a poll to obtain a numeric value of those experiencing the issue, felt the need to make a topic to insult Bethesda/Obsidian or demand immediate concessions for how they were so grievously wronged. Now, I assume this is a minority, but said minority is consistently and extremely vocal, so much so that regular forum-goers dislike that they could not perform any of the above-listed alternatives.

No issue with that Mako, but I've also seen 'johnny-[censored]-lately' fans drive into long-term posters who have had valid discussion points and complaints like a beserker on crack. It happens, it shouldn't, but it does. My point in that specific statement was that some of these posters truly are overly-speculative and heavy on rhetoric in their posts, and I honestly wasn't having a dig at you, it was intended as a general comment, although I really do wonder about some of the posters here...

Keep in mind that quite a number of the regular posters, and longer registered people, are also experiencing problems, across all platforms, which is the true heart of the problems with the game. These simply can't be explained away with any of the usual reasoning: It's your hardware, it's Steam, etc.

As the time since Gstaff's last post drags on, a lot of us who need this patch, and have faithfully waited for it, are losing patience.

The last information posted by Gstaff on the patch was 19 November...it's now 5 December. From the looks of it, the proposed patch was a failure and they have had to go back to the drawing board.

I think that it is time that people stopped being apologists for the companies, and started facing the reality of what is occurring. Sure, we know some people aren't having problems (reputedly), and we know a lot of people are. Every discussion on the problems have been hijacked by the apologists, in some cases in a manner which is little short of spamming. Insults and flaming has occurred, and a lot of bad blood has been seen on the forums.

I'm actually wondering if some of the apologists aren't plants by the company to try and deflect the blame...some of these people can't be as sycophantic as they appear, surely? Particularly when the proof is looking them in the face...

Personally, I got F3 on day one, as I did with FNV. As soon as the DLC went to disc, I got it all (less that spaceship rubbish) on day one, I thoroughly enjoyed it. With FNV, in a relatively short time from release, I'm simply checking Steam for the patch update and these boards to see if any advice has come out....I can't finish the game unless a patch comes out to resolve the more game-breaking issues.

My personal view? This game is a failure. It will be a cold day in hell before I get any DLC for it, unless they virtually give it away, and only then if the game performance actually performs.

See kids, remaining mature while still venting your frustrations at this embarassing mess of a game is possible. This is the kind of attitude that needs to be maintained on this forum. Stop acting so passive and accepting of paying 50-60 dollars for a disaster, but don't go overboard and make yourself look foolish. Am I the only one that's tired of this? Developers\Publishers spending tons of money on advertising with major review websites to lock themselves into their '7 to 10 scale' review systems which deceives gamers into buying (or even pre-ordering) a product that is not worth the score it was given. And when you realize you've been had, guess what? You can't get your money back because here in the US, once the game is opened, you own it. This is the game, people. If you can't get your money back the moment you break the plastic seal, then locking gamers into the sale is what becomes important, not the quality of the product that's delivered. New Vegas is a shining example of this policy.

The game launched on October 19th. 300 million dollars in sales, 5 million units shipped (these number are much higher now), and where are we now? Still waiting on what should have been the final product. But don't worry, they're making damn sure to remind us about the 800 ms point (10 dollar) DLC they want us to buy next. Vote with your wallet, people. I'm not spending another dime on this game. I'm still waiting on what I paid for.

Also, here's a reminder of what went down @ launch - http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/959558-/56850015

I have to say, it's quite refreshing to see a newer member of the forums post something that is exactly along the lines of what actually happened. I'm so used to seeing newbies post flames at Obsidian because they think it's their fault that the game came out as buggy as it did, whenever it's Bethesda's fault for not providing enough time for bug testing by possibly delaying the release date by a matter of weeks.

Props to you, good sir. :tops: :foodndrink:

As for an ETA on the patch, I imagine it's going to be sometime before the DLC. I'd say about a week or so before it. The only patch that will be coming out WITH the DLC will be the one that adds achievements/trophies for it.

Thanks :tops: I like to do my research and know how my games work, rather than becoming insulting.

Maybe when I come back from my Christmas holiday (won't have internet where I'm going), I can load up Fallout and the patch will be there, all shiny and ready to make me want to play FNV again.

Well, as someone who bought it Day One, I have had only minor issues. A few game freezes/crashes to desktop and random other things (warping NPCs, getting stuck in the side of a mountain, etc.).
Annoying, yes, but not earth-shattering to me. The game has been out... 7 weeks almost? I sadly have over 300 hours played, and "won" it 6 times (once with each possible ending, and trying to get
all of the achievements).

I would agree that a patch should have come out by now to fix some of these issues at least. But people have to remember that not everyone's computers are the same. There are 10393083089 things that
programmers have to account for that could exist on someone's machine and could potentially cause an issue. So I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt...

Your standards must be low then. "Minor issues" like losing companions, freezing and crashing in the middle of running somewhere, losing all progress up to that point, quests not working correctly, geee if you advertised the game like this do you think they still would have sold so many copies? "Fallout New Vegas come experience The Mojave Desert! (and a lot of buggy aspects of it to be fixed a few months down the road =) "
I loved Fallout 3 and I assumed since it's the same company behind FNV I'd be getting the same quality of game, well I was wrong. I wouldn't be as mad if they had fixed the bugs already but it's been over 30 days since they applied the first patch and they STILL haven't released the second patch for consoles. It's undergoing "testing" well maybe if they'd tested the game more before release we wouldn't be in this position.

Do you read the news much Sinrman? they already fixed a lot of issues for the PC but they're still making PS3 users wait, P S 3 is a console you see, it has the same hardware across the board so don't tell us that all computers are different when it doesn't apply here. They could release smaller updates rather than make us wait 3 months to get a "fix all" patch that coincides with their DLC. Which seems kinda stupid imo, why would I want to give them more money for this bug fest? I refuse to finish the game despite all the "minor issues" so I guess I'll just play something else until a fix arrives. Needless to say I will not be so quick to spend $60 on a Bethesda game in the future, if I buy one at all.

So, when people with a different viewpoint of the whole situation, the "apologists" post, they're "hijacking" the discussion and "spamming" the board, but the people who keep creating topic after topic of "[censored] you Bethesda, I want my money back, you stole my money and 40 hours of my life and I deserve to be compensated for both", that's neither spamming or hijacking? I'm really not sure how that works.

Also at the poster who called this mature, how is it mature? The line about "we know some people aren't having problems (reputedly), and we know a lot of people are". So the people that aren't having problems are potentially liars, and the people who are having problems are truthful? I'm not really sure how that works either. Replace "mature" with "falls in line with my opinions so I approve" and that's fine, but claiming posts like this are more mature than those who are trying to offer a differing viewpoint on the whole situation... he's now insinuated that people who aren't sharing his opinion may be liars (which is now just petty name calling).

There's no where on this board that says it's open season to rant all you want with immunity or impunity. Nor does it say it should become a complete battleground for those who can experience the game without issue and those who can't. I believe all of these rant topics should be not just locked but deleted on sight, and the discussion boards should be discussion about the game content, the cheats/hints/spoilers section should be discussion which includes those three items, and the hardware/software issues section should be productive hardware/software postings after a thorough search to ensure your issue hasn't been posted. At this point, anyone who makes a post saying "My game doesn't work, I hate Bethesda and where's my patch?" are knowingly posting to start a fight, and it's the same as someone starting a topic (which I haven't seen) that says "My game works great, haha losers!". Both are equally responsible for starting fights on this board.

It's not the same team. The people working on the DLC are not the same people working on the patch. Obsidian no doubt employs a large number of programmers, they aren't all just working on one thing, as is how game development goes for a large game. It's not 6 guys in a room saying "Oh crap, DLC deadline is like three weeks from now, Pete, Jeff, Steve, lets stop working on the patch, we gotta get this DLC done! We'll finish the patch later!"

ETA on the patch is anyones guess, but if I was betting man I'd say it will be out before the DLC. I just feel there would be to many problems if the patch was released the same day as the DLC.
