Ummm, what?

I was watching a vid and this one guy (Ham, i think) said "...there will be no instant kills...grenades are fairly weak...lightweight classes with pistols carry around off-hand knifes. What is This? all the vids i see, grenades have ALWAYS killed in one hit (well... maybe they took damage before hand) the thing that actually confuses me is that, will knifes kill in one hit? sure you probably will be dead by the time your close enough, but still, i'm just confused by this oxymoron.

No, nothing is OHK, except headshots with a buffed weapon to light body types. And grenades just knock you down, they don't kill you. Same with melee attacks

grenades will be used more to incapacitate foes. NO one hit kills with those. and yes they probably had been damaged beforehand.
and as for knifes, the will not be one hit kills either. Thank goodness, didn't want CoD kids to go around knifing everyone. they will, though, do more damage then melee done with a two handed weapon.
And I believe you may be confused with the definition of 'oxymoron'. haha
Either way have some ice cream. :icecream:

All the recent footage I have seen that involved grenades they took away what appeared to be around 15-20% health so I wouldn't worry.

They were not killed in one hit, but knocked down (which is yet again different to being incapacitated).

Sounds stupid. I understand no one likes random frag kills but gameplay adjustments can make grenades lethal and fair. Take BFBC2 for example, you don't see random frags flying everywhere but they're really useful for clearing an upper floor or taking out a guy behind cover. Whatever, must have something going for it if that's what they're ending up doing.

I think movies have ruined what grenades are, and the dmg they actually do.

I hope you're arguing that they should be more lethal, because I've never seen a video game where grenades were deadly/injuring out to the range they should be.

Any video about brink is a work in progress, most video clips were taken back in 2010 unless they were from the Pax East build. I do believe that the changes that they've made since 2010 build to the Pax East build is

Snipers are 2 hit knock down on body, some are 1 hit knockdown on head, we as a community have yet to decide whether damage buffs from he engineer will effect this or not

Grenades deal a small percentage of damage and cause a "stun" by knocking the target on their butt, causing them to pull out their pistol until they get up. (i've seen a group of 4 get knocked on their ass, funniest thing ever)

The Knife and melee's knock people down in one hit.

Basically whien they say one hit kill they mean, you die, now you respond. In a sense they do have one hit kills, but getting knocked down doesn't mean your dead, just think of it as second chance. Although I do wish headshots would kill the target rather than knocking them down :/

Actually the knife does more damage than the gunbutt but has no knockdown.

Umm also where did you hear that headshot will knock someone down.

Being knocked down is similar to Last Stand in Call of Duty. You are still able to use your weapons and you can get up after a moment.

I can't remember who said it, or in which video, but it was something along the lines of, "sniper's won't be one hit kills, in exception to the berett sniper rifle which can knock somebody down in one hit to the head."

And wraith do you have any more details about the knife and gunbutt damage? I seem to know little info on it...

The Barrett cannot knock somebody down in one hit to the head per se; it needs a buff first, and we're not sure what buff will be necessary (though hopefully not just a Level 1 buff). I don't remember hearing that in a video, though.

I think we need to clear something up the difference between knockdown and incapicitated.

Knockdown is just like it sounds you can shoot or attempt to get up.

Incapicatated is when you wait to respawn or get revived. There is a perk to allow you to shoot in this mode, or if you are an operative blow yourself up. Just try and teabag me I dare you.

Well I know that a knife thrust will incapictate an unbuffed light. Gun butt is less than that but has knockdown. Melee someone who is knocked down in order to incapictate.

Thing is, BFBC2 and Brink have TOTALLY different maps (from what I've played, just got into BC2 last night). BC2 maps tend to be a lot more open, whereas Brink is primarily close-quarters and choke-points. Grenade spamming would be much more deadly and frustrating in Brink if they were powerful.

No, in the Brink section it's more like this:

One Star = Disciple of HORSE
Two Star = Priest of HORSE
Three Star = High-Priest of HORSE

Don't forget to read the Holy Bible commenly reffered to as the Brink Compendium: http://www.fragworld.org/frag/community-blogs/brink-info-pt-1-story-gameplay-smart-classes-and-objectives.html
