Unable To Marry - Are there any other special requirements?.

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 5:53 pm

So, I have the Amulet of Mara and I've completed the Companions quest-line and I'm still unable to marry Eola.

For the record, I found the Amulet of Mara on a chest. Should I buy it from a priest of Mara or something?.

PS: This is my 3rd playthrough, so this is kinda weird. Lol

Have you talked to the priest in Riften yet? You don't need to get the amulet from him, but you need to speak to him for the options to start.

You gotta take a field trip to Riften and chat it up with some priestess. She sends you on a few Fed Ex/Dr phil missions all over Skyrim, and at the end of the mini quest line your reward is the ability to give half your possessions away to someone who doesn't really help you in anyway and never stops telling you your wrong. Not even any sixytime moments, heavy asset risk, and no prize.

The quest for the priestess in Riften is not required, it's Maramel (sp?) the priest you have to talk to, and all you have to do is ask about having a wedding in the Temple.

Yes you only need to talk to Maramil (or something like that). You do not have to complete any quest. Just to be extra safe you should buy an amulet from him instead of using the one you found (it should work but it is Skyrim after all). Then go and talk to Eola wearing the amulet and the dialogue option should appear.

@ the OP: I assume by "Eola" you mean Aela? She's the one in the Companions. Eola is an entirely different character and IIRC she is not available for marriage.

Been married, have we? 'Cuz this sounds exactly like my experience(s) in the field. But I have to know, how did you manage to only give away half of your possessions? I was left with nothing, twice. Not in the game, of course, in the game you can get away with accidentally shoving a sword through beloved's gullet. Not so much in real life.

Spoiler
Just as well really, she's got a dikey eye and she likes the taste of flesh...who'd want that?!

(Hang on, what am I saying!!)
