unacceptable issue

While I'm on the fence about the gameplay in Brink (seems my heavy gets 2-3 shot with 5 extra health pips constantly) I love the ambience and the themeatic style of the game.

However what i CANNOT and WILL NOT accept is a peice of software of any kind damaging my system.

I run AMD Phenom II x4 B55 @ 3.3Ghz (no OC)
ASRock Extreme 870 Mobo
ATI Radeon sapphire 6850 1Gig DDR5 VRAM
Antex 300 case with 6 fans

Today while attempting to play brinks story missions I encountered a random CTD no message popup about the game crashing no log file created just hey *poof* like I never loaded it. At first I though no problem its probably just a bug, its a new game afterall. So I start teh game back up and there are some graphical anomolies like the Splash damage animation screen flashing my monitor black across the top (or bottom) and the characte select screen completely bugging out (looked like it was trying to play a mission video behind the selection screen) before finally going black and crashing to desktop again with no error message or warning. Also my speakers began making strange "whump" noises and sound went out completely on my system until I rebooted my machine. Now after rebooting my desktop gamma is out of whack (about %15 darker than normal) and I'm fearful of attempting to load the game up again as I'm worried it may cuase permanent damage to my system.

This is more likely a coincidence than something wrong with Brink. Sounds like something's up with your display drivers.

Try the following:
Clean out any video card drivers on your system using Driver Sweeper: http://www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/
Since you've got a 6xxx series AMD/ATI video card, download the 11.5a hotfix drivers here: http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/AMDCatalyst115ahotfix.aspx
Browse to: Steam\steamapps\common\brink\directx, Run DXSETUP.EXE and let it finish.

As I write this my background image here is a complete scramble of red/blue pixelation. and while poking at my system Its telling me my hardware changed and to re-run windows assemant.
Normally my system rated

7.4 CPU
7.4 RAM
7.9 Graphics (Aero desktop)
7.9 Graphics for Gaming
5.9 HDD transfer rate.

after the last crash with brink my rating are now showing as

7.4
7.4
6.3
6.3
5.9
Catergories as above. alos any window swapping results in pink blocks or severe pixelation of my monitor.
Also my GPU is now running at almost 50c as apposed to its regular 36c temps
I JUST this morning insalled the 11.5a hotfix drivers and all other system drivers are up to date Including windows updates. I'm fairly confident its not my hardware as the PC is less than 4 months old.

EDIT
screenshots of my browser after brink CTD. Also noting that attepting to bring up steam from the taskbar via rightclick will cuase steam to crash as well after brink crashes

It really seems like your video drivers have become corrupted, or your video card may have issues (any number of reasons could cause that, completely unrelated to Brink). Have you tried the steps I suggested previously to wipe out any current drivers and install the latest drivers for your video card?

There is your problem.
You most likely encountered a glitch in the new 11.5a hotfix driver that you installed. The reason that they call it a " hot fix " is because it was made rather quickly to fix some core issues with the game so that people with the 6xxx series cards could actually play the game without encountering the notorious blue screen or some other graphical errors...
Also, it has been shown that people using 4xxx or 5xxx series legacy cards will not benefit from this hot fix at all, in fact it even further more decreases the in game fps.

Just uninstall the current ATI driver that you have installed and reinstall your previous driver or just switch to the newest working version which is 11.5

I'm not new to gaming nor PC driver issues i'm aware of what a hotfix does/is.
my current Video card is a Radeon sapphire 6850 HD so the hotfix should (In theory) work as its a 6xxx series card. Why you would point out the issues with 5xxx series cards and legacy drivers I dont know as its not remotely relevant to my issue.
My prior working version driver WAS the 11.5 driver. I only installed the hotfix version (11.5a) this morning in hopes of getting somewhat passable framerates. Instead I got game crashes, graphical anomolies and a reduction in system performance as reported by windows. Something i've never seen cuased by a software crash mind you.

That's because what you're experiencing is a driver issue, it caused the software crash, not the other way around. Something with the driver installation is corrupted.

will see what happens after reverting to the original 11.5 driver after running CCleaner, the link provided for driversweeper doesn't work (the download link fails to open download) and the manual download link provided in case the automatic download fails doesn't load the page.

No offense but you completely missed my point, maybe I wasn't clear enough or you thought I was mocking you or something.

If you would not be new to driver issues as you say, you wouldn't have started this rage thread because you would have intelligently deduce the following:

1.) Today I installed new graphical drivers in hopes of improving my fps
2.) My computer is acting up and windows has lowered my graphical performance for several points
3.) This must have something to do with the new drivers that I have installed this morning because I haven't had this problems before updating my drivers
4.) I will uninstall the current drivers and reinstall the previous working drivers

Instead you come on here blaming the game and people who are trying to help you, for free.

I still haven't seen you trying number 4.) which several people have suggested.

After following the advice given. I've had to reinstall not only the drivers for my GFX, but also my USB 3.0 controller, my sound and my Motherboard.
And still windows is not detecting my GFX card as it was PRIOR to the issue with Brink.

Secondly if I were raging you'd know it.

Frustration =/= rage thread.

Yeah, sometimes these issues svck and are a pain to deal with. Windows should hopefully have found drivers for your motherboard controller. If not, you may want to check with your motherboard manufacturer (or OEM if you bought your system pre-built). Right now getting that issue correctly resolved is the most important. If the controller isn't set up with the proper drivers then anything connected to it (USB/PCI) could potentially have issues. I'm sorry it's a mess, all I can do is try my best to help you out.

Now I am just confused, you followed the advice to uninstall the 11.5a hot fix driver, and somehow the result of this was you having to reinstall your USB 3.0 controller, sound driver and whatever it is you think is software/driver for the motherboard?

If you don't know how to properly uninstall a graphical driver you should just say so in the first place and we would have helped you with that as well.

Also, you didn't say anything about windows not detecting your graphic card prior to issues with Brink in your original thread. I highly doubt Windows evaluation tool would score your Graphic card at 7.9 (btw 7.9 is the highest possible) if it couldn't detect your graphic card.

I'm assuming Driver Sweeper had those drivers checked for removal when he ran it. It does a better job of cleaning out drivers than the uninstaller does which is why I've recommended it to some people with driver issues after updating.

Here's the link to the downloads page for your motherboard drivers:
http://www.asrock.com/mb/download.asp?Model=870%20Extreme3

Just pick your OS and download the drivers you lost and install them, starting with the AMD All-in-one.

Your mashing words up. Re-read it please.

Prior to this issue windows scored my PC at 7.9 for Both desktop display for Aeros and for gaming graphics (third and fourth numbers) after this issue started, when i began having the display go all out of whack (see screenshots above) Windows now only reports my video card at 6.3 in both catergories. After fixing the driver issue from (likely my own lack of paying attention) Driversweeper. And reinstalling the current 11.5 driver (NOT the 11.5a hotfix driver) my windows score is unchanged. (still 6.3 instead of 7.9)

Make sure you're running the latest AMD chipset drivers as that has a fairly significant influence on PCI Express performance. I offered the link to the drivers for your motherboard in my previous post.

yeah I checked them this morning as well just to be sure. The Mobo drivers are up to date. after a little digging it seems that both Nvidia and AMD/ATI cards sometimes lose windows performance ratings with driver updates. I'll only worry about that if i start seeing performance issues.

Sry to hear that man, I agree however it being a driver issue (corrupt). I hope you figure it out soon. Just curious though, how come you removed the other drivers and not just your video drivers, seemed to me it would have been just a video issue, not all the other stuff, an accident? Anyways, hope you get it figured out.
