Underground locations?

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 2:51 am

One thing I did like in FO3 was the abundance of underground locations like sewers and metro tunnels. Since FNV doesn't take place in a metropolitan area, will we still get plenty of underground areas like bunkers and such?

I hope for an underground village of tribals, using the underground streams and he shade of the underground to live moderately comfortable from the harshness of the desert. The only main drawback is underground creatures that live even deeper down in the dark caverns.

But to answer your question, I believe their should be due to deserts having life underground. Many animals burrow and such to stay cool or keep warm during the cold desert nights. And due to mutation might grow in size thus creating huge caverns (hopefully).

As long as they are not as extravagant as in 3. I don't mind some tunnels or underground complexes, but I don't want that many of them.

As long as there no Metro Tunnels to make my eyes go dizzy in confusion again, I'm good. :bonk:

They're bound to dig themselves some caves right?

I read in a recent article on cracked.com that Vegas has a large network of underground tunnels that were originally meant to protect against flash floods. These tunnels aren't flooded too often I assume, because tribes of homeless people have apparently started living in them, making sophisticated dwellings and even towns with mayors and stuff. Maybe we'll get to see some of that, I know I'd like to.

Yeah, I was going to say Vegas does have an extensive sewer/floodway system (as mentioned above), which I think will be used since Vegas has no metro system. Of course, who's to say that the city didn't build a subway after the timeline divergence?

Anyway, I'm sure we'll see caves, mines, sewers, bunkers, and other underground 'dungeon'-type areas.

When you mention tribals i was starting to think where are they? there was no tribals in Fo3 except PL and have they mentioned it for NV?

I hated the metro system, personally. All copypasta, never anything worth shooting down there, yet plenty of things you had to shoot.

Im sure bunkers and such will exist. Probably not an extensive metro system like Fo3 though.

Please, please no more metro tunnels. Fallout 3 has enough, no need to continue that repetitive copy-paste layout. Those aside, underground caverns, mines, caves, ect are always a good change of pace.

Agreed, no more of those. Metro tunnels were too difficult to navigate.

I kind of half to agree, the metro system really seemed like one of the less rewarding places in Fallout 3 to explore, and yet you had to explore them to reach most locations in DC, which is really what bothered me. I wouldn't have hated them as much if I didn't have to go through them to navigate the city, so I'll be glad if I can move about New Vegas while remaining above ground.

But it seems to me like it's pretty much an unofficial law that RPGs must have something like dungeons in them, I certainly can't think of one that did not which I've played, so yes, I'd say they'll be in the game. The question is how many there will be, what sort of places they will be, what's in them, and such, THAT, we can't say yet.

i think an underground mole rat community would be pretty awesome. and then have a huge boss-sized mole rat, maybe with a different skin (alot more mutated than the others perhaps?) near the end.

I would love underground tunnels, caves etc. I did'nt mind the metro tunnels either in fallout 3.
I think giant ants are still in the game,so there is bound to be lots of underground places to explore...not just for that reason ,but its one reason why.

I'm cool with underground locations... but my grip with Fallout 3 is that so many area's of DC weren't navigable without them.

Getting to the National Mall was a PITA.

I hope that we have underground areas that we get to explore and have mayhem and fun in.

What I don't want is to have to use the Underground to get to places, well, maybe one or two places. Or, maybe an underground destination that has to be reached through a few tunnels.

Well there on the west coast at least, and a small gorup in PL as you said. Just go to the fallout wiki it'll explain it better(its pretty accurate). Also they are mentioned to be tribals that are being recruited and banding together due to the activity of CL in the area.

And yes no metro tunnels, would love a ghoul infested vegas underground.

I agree that we shouldn't need to use the underground to travel, but I wouldn't mind a *few* metro tunnels under New Vegas.
