Unenchanted gear

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 3:57 pm

I thought about goiing through the game using only plain armor and weapons. I'll smith them up, but I won't enchant them or anything. As long as I get the right weapon and armor perks, will I be ok? Anybody else play this way? Btw I just play on default difficulty.

This is what I do. The only thing I've ever enchanted was a bow to do soul capture.

Take into consideration that there are no enchantments to make armor more protective with the exception of resisting magic. I think you're fine.

I do that on my assassin. He has 100 smithing and dragon armour, but no enchanted armour. I have Soul trap on my Daedric bow and that's it.

Not true. can't you give your armour enchantments to give you +# in light or heavy armour?

I never enchant my weapons and armor. In fact, the only enchanted armor/weapons I use are obtained from either the Theives Guild questline or Dark Brotherhood questline.

I honestly haven't seen those enchantments, nor can I confirm nor deny they exist. I've seen ones that do bonus to weapon skills, but not armor.

There are pieces of armour that give you higher skill in Light/Heavy Armour, for example going from 100 in Light Armour to 110 in Light Armour. If a piece of armour is worn with this skill then the skill it is added to will turn green when you look at it in the skills menu. :)

The lack of magic resistance is somewhat a concern. I guess I could use the atronach stone though.

I don't smith/improve armor nor do I enchant them and I do fine. However, I do use gear that is already enchanted and I don't get in many fights since I use stealth

I never enchant in my new warrior file. It really should give you no problem.
