Unfathomable Depths - Can't activate pedestal

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 5:49 am

Unfathomable Depths bug and I can't find any information about it via google. I'm on PC.

Spoiler
So I received the mission in the normal way, getting the Lexicon from From-Deepest-Fathoms in Riften. I didn't do the quest right away but I eventually got to Avanchnzel and fought through the dwarven city. Everything I have read makes it seem that the quest has gone normally however after defeating the big boss, I went up to the pedestal that says "Press E to Activate". I have never had a problem activating anything in this game but when I click E it does NOTHING. I have googled and found zip. Anyone have an idea?

Do you still have the Lexicon in your inventory?
I am asking a Moderator to move this to Cheats, Hints, and Spoilers.
I do have a link to the UESP in my signature to use.

Yes I have the Lexicon in my inventory. And you can't equip it or drop it.

I had already checked the UESP and it has nothing about this bug.

Is there anyway to complete it in the console or whatever? I just want it finished.

Ok so I found the info about setstage and got the information for this quest, but when I type in setstage MS04 900 which is the stage where it says I have returned the Lexicon, it does nothing, but if I type setstage MS04 1000 it says I have completed the mission but I don't get the reward and I still have the Lexicon.

I'm so frustrated with this game. I started TES with Morrowind and I have really enjoyed my time, up until Skyrim. Don't get me wrong, it's a great game, when it's working, but the problem is, too many bugs. I spend too much time hunting down ways to get around problems. And while Morrowind and Oblivion were buggy too, Skyrim is the first time I've considered stop playing because the bugs are too much.

Anyway, rant over, anyone have a solution or something to try?

If you can setstage- you are on a pc, can't you just look up the ancient knowledge perk and add that into your character? That is what I would try

Not a bad idea... thanks for the suggestion. Of course if anyone else knows a way to fix this bug please post.

Anyone else with a thought?

I'm looking at the script now and adding my own debug messages in there and from that I now know that it is not activating because it doesn't think I have the Lexicon so I'm trying to figure out a way around that.

Even if I use the console to add another Lexicon it still doesn't trigger the script to complete the mission. Somewhere something goes hosed up. At this point I'm wondering if my only option is to change the IF statement to say if I have 0 go ahead and complete the mission.. freakin game!
