So on my way home today my wife calls and says did you debit 2 amounts of 54.82 and one for 49 .00 bucks today? I say no and call my CC company and see what the charges were for. So... they say Microsoft xb. Im like wtf? I don't even have a gold account as I don't really play games online anymore.
I dispute the charges and call microsoft. They tell me someone has downloaded 2 digital copies of DIRT 3 and some other game I've never heard of. So I have to lock my account and let them start their investigation. Not only am I out this money for the meanwhile (hopefully my cc company gives me my money back) they have locked my xbox console as a whole so my gt won't be compromised any more.
I CANT GET THE 1.3 UPDATE NOW!!!
MY GOD!
Is there any way I can get it otherwise???? :flamethrower:
Did you find mysterious Fifa games appearing in your recently played list? I had a similar thing happen to me a while back and after going through the motions of cancelling the card and getting a new one, dealing with xbox and the investigation and all that, I found that there has been a string of these that are somehow associated with people playing fifa who hack people's accounts and then use their ms points to download random games and in-game points for fifa microtransactions.
The tell for me was that I turned on my xbox and had to recover my gamertag, even though I had never migrated it to another system. It made me suspicious and I started doing some digging.
Not as bad as the sony hack, but definitely a problem, and ms isn't really saying much about it.
Sorry to hear it, man, esp. the timing. Be careful trying to pick up the update from other sources- might be considered a violation of terms and since they're looking at your account right now you might not want to do anything sketchy.
The thing that ticked me off the most when I got hacked was the dumb games these people were downloading- slick enough to pull off a hack and then using my $ to play a bunch of sonic the hedgehog games and sidescrolling shooters...
