Unique Weapons

I reckon there needs to be some more Alien weapons, a follow-up to Mothership Zeta (Even though it's not linked to MSZ itself) would be great!

No offense, but I really, REALLY hope there aren't any references to aliens in NV at all. MSZ was a fun little "easter-eggy" romp, but I'd prefer to see the series leave it behind now.

I'd like a solar-powered energy weapon, like the Solar Scorcher. That would add some diversity and is an ammoless sidearm while the sun shines. (Should be difficult to get, obviously)

Speaking of uniques, I would like there to a be all end all weapon hidden somewhere so good that it that it will take the gaming community months to find it. Actually, I wouldn't want them to make mention of it at all and just leave it to good old exploration. The alien crash site would have been much more awesome had it been very well hidden somewhere where you would never think to go.

I'm talking hiding it like Fin Gleam in Oblivion. Fin Gleam was hidden so well you would think they would have put the best sword in the game in its place. I like stuff like that in games. Major secrets.

All good. I just haven't gotten over it, because I'm nearly finished on it =o I'll probably have the same opinion as you though in a few days time haha.

I would like a pneumatic weapon. Pump it up and open the valve to release the projectile. It could be a long pipe with a great range but slow reload time, maybe it could be used to launch grenades or molotovs a good distance like a mortar. Or it could launch a spear. This would be more of a DIY weapon. I hope we get to see more DIY stuff.

God... don't look that up on Google with safesearch off.

I see that you added a link. And here I was thinking-hoping that it wasn't Austin Powers related.

It isn't...I just added that because it's a nice and not-too-inappropriate picture. :P The first one I was able to find, in fact. No naughty words.

Is it wrong that it was the first thing I thought of when I read your post? ;)

What "Pump Rifle" are you talking about then?

I was referring to the pump (since they're a real thing, oddly enough), but not really trying to make an Austin Powers reference. The Austin Powers picture was just a side-effect of trying to find a picture that wasn't naughty. :D

Also, what do you all think of unique ammo? Like you find Billy the kids lucky box 'o' ammo or something. It would still have a limited amount of ammo but it would do a bit more damage or some other thing. Or maybe something called "the silver bullet"..It would be a .44 round and you would only get the one shot with it, but it would instant kill any animal. Just a thought.

I'm not talking about an actual "pump rifle", but basically a buildable weapon that would be like a cross between a pump bbgun and a mortar. Use a pump to build up pressure then release the pressure to launch an object. Are you picking up what I'm putting down?

Edit: @ Goat, I like the ammo idea. There definately should be more types of ammo. I don't think that they should have a finite quantity though, they should just be more rare.

Kind of like the Rocket Launcher then only using something more along the like of pneumatics to launch nades or rocks or something?

I imagine a long pipe with a little enclosed pipe to the side of it, some kind of air outlet thing on the top, and a little arm on the right. Put nades or rocks in it. Pull the little arm a few times and it shoots the item out and steam comes out of the air outlet on top. Maybe a knob you switch to an "on" position instead of an arm you pull a couple times.

It could also be done by using steam power. Have tube with a sealed end and a valve on the other end. There would need to be water in it to turn into steam. Apply fire to the sealed tube with water and the expansion of the water turning to steam creates pressure. By opening the valve you would release the steam and the pressure and push the object out of the barrel. This could be made by attaching 2 pieces of pipe with a valve in the center and one end (the one with the water) would need to be sealed by an end cap. This may sound technical but it is not, it has been around for hundreds of years, think steam engines.

I always assumed that's how the railway rifle worked.

I didn't care much for that thing, it wasn't realistic enough for me. The physics just wouldnt work, but it was a cool idea. If Bethesda or Obsidian need a creative designer who still has a firm grasp on realism they can hit me up.

A revolver that has gas propelled rounds, like this one gun I saw on mythbusters. I saw it litterally disentagrate a water melon into liquid mist.

Every firearm has "gas propelled rounds." that's how the bullet leaves the barrel. Gas from the gunpowder explosion pushes the bullet out. How exactly did this gun on Mythbusters work?

Cabbage...and legumes. Very slow to reload.

I think he meant gas, like gasoline not gas like a non-dense state of matter, like they way that we use the term.

Edit: Lol, beans do cause gas...

Well instead of cramming enough cabbage and legumes into a revolver-sized weapon, I wish we had some sort of propellant that would expel enough gas to propel a bullet. If only such a substance existed that we could use in very little quantity that would accomplish that task.

Oh wait, we do... Gunpowder. I appreciate the idea, and sorry if I've sounded like a jerk, but there's a reason we don't launch projectiles with the gas from decomposing produce.

EDIT: That is if, of course, you were serious about the cabbage and legumes idea. Oh wait, you just meant the gas that they cause people to have.

I must have been thinking of some other mythbusters stunt.
