Unkillable characters = total BS + some questions

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 11:26 pm

When I play this game I want to be BOSS and kill every one that opposes me, two of these people are delphine and maven black-briar. they are immortal and for what reason? its one thing when you make useful characters immortal, but when I see these two useless [censored] I start thinking that bethesda did this on purpose to troll. plzz patch this

also i`m wondering if it is possible to destroy both the imperial and stormcloak and takeover skyrim yourself anc become the high king? I remember it was possible to take over the city yourself in new vegas but can you do it here? And is there a way to slow down your levelling progress, cuz I just want to play this game slowly and I feel like i`m levelling up wayy to fast. will increasing the difficulty lower the exp you get?

New Vegas was made my Obsidian. Skyrim is made by Bethesda who don't know how to use their brains to make unessential characters work hence my sig.

The reason you can't kill them is because they give you quests. Any quest related npcs are tagged as unkillable.

Both Maven and Delphine play roles in several questlines. Killing them pre-maturely would create a huge mess of broken adventures. The game isn't coded to have backup characters fill these roles....

That doesn't make it any better. Why can't a player in a "do anything, be anything" game not kill a quest giver? That was one of my favorite things about New Vegas, losing quests because I accidentally/not accidently killed a quest giver. I never reloaded my game because of it, I just accepted the consequences of my actions. It gives the player the feeling that the world is affected by their decisions. I hate this "be able to do every questline, quest, see everything, get everything" style Bethesda has switched over to.

Then let the player fail those quests.

Immortal npcs svck so bad. I want all to be mortal, with a message when you kill a quest person, like in Morrowind. The choice should be mine if I am willing to sacrifice the quest (questline).

It's not all about the player. There are random dragon attacks, and in street battles orchestrated by the AI. Thieves or guards could kill Maven an "essential" in Riften, or Delphine might be torched in a dragon battle prior to reaching a destination. Many people complain because questlines get corrupted. You wish to corrupt them for your own play style which is your choice. But most would consider discovering and playing out a story, line far more important than killing for the sake of "I don't like this character". As I said , it just isn't the way the games laid out.

in that case, those NPC should be unkillable for everyone else except for the dragonborn

The issue isn't that the player can kill them and fail the quests, the issue is tha something else may kill them, and that would upset everybody.

I could understand having a a handful of unkillable core plotline NPCs but Skyrim goes too far. Most of the unkillable NPCs are related inconsequential vanilla quest. More reason as to why Skyrim should have less quest with more depth. I would rather remove 40 quest and give the rest of the quest 40 alternate paths many of which could account for a dead NPC.

I agree with NPCs being Essential. But they shouldn't be Essential anymore after their respective quests are completed.

And certain NPCs should NEVER be Essential.

As for Delphine, she should be until after the Main Quest.

As for Maven, she should never be Essential specially if you are someone who wants to destroy the TG, not join it.

Bethesda already implemented the solution to that problem with the Companions. Only the player can kill them.

Essential NPCs svck. I stumbled upon a Stormcloak camp and attacked it, but every ten seconds the commanding officer would magically come back to life and attack me, with full health. I had no intention of every starting the civil war quest, but Bethesda denied me the freedom to play the game how I wanted. I couldn't take the officer's armor, I couldn't use the camp for my own purposes, and he reported a bounty when I tried to take one of the horses.

It's crap.

Depends on the quest. I like Skyrim. I would say its a top 10 RPG or damn close yet its hard to name one quest that I would have really missed to the point of being upset.

That is incorrect. Followers can be killed by ANYONE and ANYTHING but they do have a 'kneel' time before they can be killed. Once they kneel down, normally the enemies will leave your follower alone and goes after you. BUT if you are not near by then your enemies will glad finish off your follower. Also, followers can get killed by traps and area spells, like the Destruction Walls even if it was made by your enemies and not you.

I did the same with an imperial camp.

If you play on PC you can turn off unkillable NPC's by doing the following.

1. Make a backup of your skyrim.ini file.

2. Open your skyrim.ini file and add the following lines to the bottom.

[GamePlay]

bEssentialTakeNoDamage=0

3. Save your changes

Warning : this can and will [censored] up your game if you kill certain quest NPC's, once you do there is no going back unless you saved your game before doing so. Also, by setting the bEssentialTakeNoDamage=1 will turn on invulnerable NPC's again.

Hope this helps.
