unkillable followers

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 3:53 pm

I don't know about you guys but I think there needs to be more invincible followers. To my knowledge there are only 3 and they are all part of the same group. I hope dawnguard brings new followers that cant be killed because while inenjoy companionship I bate having to protect them all the time and worrying over them dying. Also I cant get those followers on my current profile as I did the quest for the oculatus.

pc or console. If console yeah the invincible ones are limited. If pc obviously it can be modded. I think they allowed them to be killable so that their is a downside to having them, having to be more cautious than if you were by yourself.

I gave up on having followers about two weeks after getting the game. I started as a mage and had this bad habit of accidentally catching my followers in my psychotic crossfire.

Followers are invincible. They only die if you, yourself, strike them. All followers will get on a knee and crawl around if too injured, but then enemies leave them alone. Only you can give the killing blow.

No followers can still die from say a AOE spell or a badly aimed arrow.

Not sure about that, Ive seen my followers constantly blasted by high level magic spells while downed, or being repeatedly slammed by traps and they never die from enemies, I even seen my follower be a pincushion with several arrows being planted in his face and they were just fine. The only way I seen my followers die is by my own weapons and spells.

Which followers, If you mean essential followers they youre right. But most followers such as housecarls and spouses will die.

Few are epic enough to keep up with Dragonborn.

I personally don't have any issues with the mortality rate of them, altough i can see how it would get annoying.

Followers such as Vorstag, Ria and Faendal, they all take any attack while downed without dying even to traps as while Vorstag was hit by a swinging axe in a hall way trap the third swing pushed him through the wall instead of killing him or Ria taking massive fireballs to the face from a high level mage and being very much alive. No follower so far has just flat out dropped dead from random fire of enemies while downed.

Its happened once or twice to me, I wouldnt say its common but it is annoying going through a massive battle against say 10 draugr deathlords/scourges ( im thinking of a specific dungeon) and then turning around and your spouse is lying dead in the middle of the room >_<

Err yeah they are a normal follower. Me and Aela go everywhere... Shes not much help though as she uses her stupid hunting bow instead of the legendary Daedric bow I gave her. Im hoping she might use a crossbow when dawnguard comes out.

Except for Mjoll its possible for all followers to die from enemies. I've seen it happen on more then a few. The most likely scenario is two enemies swinging at once, the first strikes puts them into knelling position and the second finishes them off.

Mjoll is truly marked essential and can't die period no matter how hard you try, however this also means she can't be wabbajacked to increase her stats.

It depends on the spouse. Non-warrior spouses can't follow you while those that were housecarls or warrior follows can still follow you.

Followers wouldn't be so bad if they would level like they are supposed to. If they are leveled up to your characters level and they still die, then it's just something that happens, but if they die because they are 20 levels lower than the creatures you are fighting, that's a bug and not your fault.

I'll be honest though I have never lost a follower other than a dog that jumped in the way of my sword once. They take a knee at times, especially if they are getting low level in comparison to the creatures I'm fighting, but I have never seen one get killed by enemy fire. How does that even happen?

Well I've lost more than one follower in Falmer/Charus den where they had been hit with a poisonous strike just before falling to one knee. The poison seemed to keep working because I had one guy keel over and die the minute he stood up and took a few steps and another chick collapse to the ground while kneeling. I'm assuming it was the poison.

This is not true of all followers. I've had followers die without me ever unsheathing a weapon or casting a spell. Sometimes they do dumb things like charging headlong into a tower full of enemies that I am trying to sneak around, and are dead by the time I stop rolling my eyes and catch up. Uthgerd the Unbroken did this to me just the other day. In retrospect maybe she wouldn't have been so foolhardy if I'd remembered to give her a bow and some arrows before we left Whiterun, but still... she went into melee battle alone and got herself surrounded and dead with no "help" from me at all.

Bethesda shoud make the DB Initiates kilable. They weren't essentia in Oblivion, so there is no reason for them to be invincible in skyrim

Good thing the Wabbajack fix was discovered for Follower's Stats. It can't be used on Essential Followers/NPCs though.

Mjoll in unkillable, Farkas, Delphine, Esbar and a few others that are considered important to the story so all of those are safe. I use Delphine, Esbar, Mjoll, a DB initiate, a dog, a master vampire and a master necromancer in my current group.

While it is true that they will get on one knee and crawl around, enemies only *usually* leave them alone; you have to keep them distracted. Jordis once got killed fighting a giant because I was too far away picking flowers to distract him when she was on her knees  to be fair I wasn't bothered that she died - she kept bugging out and asking "you lost" or "I trust you're not planning any trouble?" whenever I entered my house ha :')

On the other hand, Cicero is essential. I love Cicero, so this makes me happy
