unless any one objects I am going to do this

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 6:35 pm

sorry to post another one of these so soon but I really am going to buy this computer unless some one gives me a valid reason not too. I wouldn't waste space on the board except that I don't want to waste my money on something that isn't quite up to snuff. my goals for this computer is that I wan't to be able to run minecraft at the least (and I have been told on those forums that this can), basic word documenting and maybe play skryim when it comes out, also play movies but my crappy near dead laptop can do that already so this one should too.

EDIT: and btw, since this came up, no this is not a suicide thread. and spamming that you thought it was is not really helping me or conritbuting to this thread at all. I lol'd at the first few but its gotten real spammy.

I don't think you should get a computer that you hope to play Skyrim on this early. Other than the extremely small screen size, looks fine to me. I doubt you'll be playing Skyrim on it though.

For work and stuff like that its fine, but you aren't going to be able to do any gaming with the integrated intel graphics card. Honestly, just buy a desktop for gaming and a cheap laptop for portability instead.

I am kinda looking for more valid reasons than just "don't listen to them they are 12"

Skyrim is not the only reason I am looking for a new laptop, my current one is all most dead. but minimum (gaming wise) I want to be able to play minecraft on any computer I get.

could any one explain to me why intell integrated graphics won't work for things like minecraft, are intell graphics really unplayable or is this just some prejeduce I don't know about.

the problem with buying a desktop online is that they don't come with a monitor, and the problem with buying monitors individually is that they are expensive. I could not find an i3 desktop that was cheap enough for me to buy a monitor with it. the cheapest monitors were over 100$.

lol, no rest assured I am far from that. but it would be disasterous if I bought a computer that can't meet my minimum standards.

So did I, and it freaked me out a bit. I'm very glad it isn't.

To be honest OP, I'd need to know your budget, and how much that PC you're considering costs.

How much is this laptop going to cost you?

EDIT: I got a much better desktop for a bit less than that. Bought a seperate GFX card and already had a monitor, but it would still be less expensive than that laptop

For that price, it's a decent laptop.

But it ain't going to play Skyrim, due to it's weak GPU. The same will apply to pretty much any budget laptop unfortunately.

What I did is I bought a desktop combo at Costco for like $600 CDN, and spent 150 on a graphics card. The desktop itself was solid, but I don't have the specs right now but I can max out games like Oblivion or Stalker easily. I know its cheaper to build a computer but I really don't have the time to do that. Then I bought a cheap, portable laptop from Best Buy.

well skyrim isn't my minimum goal for a computer, I have a 360 so if it comes to it I can buy SK for that, but gaming wise my minimum is Minecraft so thats why I have been fixating on that.

lol, I don't even have 600$ and for any one who is thinking, why not wait a little bit and get a pc at +100/200 range its because I don't have a job and it takes me a long time to save up money for a computer. it could be weeks or months to get enough to be able to afford the next benchmark.

but thats all pointless because the most strenous thing I need a laptop to do is run Minecraft, every thing else I do could be done on any ole piece of crap.

well this chart seems to suggest that most intel gpu's don't get much more than 10 fps in minecraft, although I have not seen the specific chip set for the laptop I might buy.

They're not meant for gaming.... I can't recommend a laptop with Intel graphics if you plan on using it for games.

Although it seems the HD3000 is top-of-the-line when it comes to Intel chips, but I doubt the driver support is that great compared to ATI or Nvidia.

since i have been scraping the internet for specs I have begun to wonder why consoles can run high end graphic games but while the chipsets for pc's cost half the price for a console, its a bit wierd to me.

Most consoles are sold at a loss
Consoles do not have high end graphics cards in them themselves, they are fairly old by this point

Don't look at high end chipsets if you are looking for a budget build.
