A Update?

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 1:22 am

This is one big pet peeve I have with Steam. I'm very anol about what my internet connection is uploading and downloading. I also want to be able to control the process. With steam, I can't tell specifically what it is doing. Yes, you can sometimes tell what game you have that is being updated, but you don't know specifically what. Is it a patch? Is it an updated mod? And if so, what is the update's name and what is it for?

I can't say it enough - I REALLY don't like that. And no matter how much I configure my Steam settings to NOT automatically download updates, the settings get lost and the next thing you know, something, who knows what, is downloading again. It evokes the same anger I'd feel if I found some stranger rummaging through my garage. Grrrrrr... did I mention how I REALLY don't like that?

No, it broke the third party mod that gave LAA. Once that was official, it was no longer needed.

It was only 'official' two days later after the outcry forced them to patch in LAA. The original stealth update broke it without adding it in.

Anyhow, past is past. What Id like is to see readmes -before- Steam starts downloading. I assume patches are usually good, but the user should know what hes downloading.

Yup...same here. 51.7MB update. I wonder if the new patch is coming out of beta. Last I heard there were a few issues with it, performance-wise, for some people, so I almost hope not. I'd rather it had a longer beta period like the first 1.4 patch.
I played just after the download and vampires I had killed before were back to life after. They were standing were I had killed them, wearing their clothes although I had taken them ... When I say that I killed them before the patch installs itself it was really just before that, not a week ago. Bad beginning.

I assume patches are usually bad, and set Steam to offline mode. I don't have any of the crashes and the menu issues that it fixes, and I don't use followers. Thus I don't need the patch and won't be getting it unless a future CK update insists, by which time things like Nexus Mod Manager, Skyboost, ScriptDragon, SkyUI etc, etc, will have been updated.

Don't use Steam Workshop and never will.

Yep, same with me. I too play in offline mods and don't need any of the fixes. I'll stay at the old version until I absolutely need to update.

Trolling is a art.

Edit: For clarification, not calling anyone a troll... just making a reference.

Trolling is *an art.

I'm playing basically a modless game right now. Downloaded the HD DLC but it crashes my game (need a new PC). I'm using a 'No More Blocky Noses' mod and that's it (cause I just can't stand it). I was using about 6 very basic mods and would CtD once every two hours or so. Now it never happens.

As far as the update goes, I have noticed the game locking up a few times so it looks like they fixed that. Good thing I guess.

Sky UI and "clams have pearls" for me... I'd get a couple more but don't want to change the basic game much at all. I'd love one that allows us to grind mammoth tusks into powder at the mills, or fills in some of the other gaps in the alchemy reagent rarity.

That`s fundamental problem with Steam. Your control is taken away. It`s like being a baby and having something shoved into your mouth when you`re not ready for it.

The only way to avoid this is by NOT staying on the the net. OFFLINE mode is not enough, you have to pul out the internet connection from your computer to return some form of control to your game.

I`m surprised at how many people stay linked to Steam and the net while playing an Offline game.

Steam uploads and downloads details in the background like a vampire slowly svcking from your veins as you sleep even in Offline mode.

Anyway, hope this Patch fixes my crash issue, but it probabaly won`t , although I notice they cater to Xbox controllers- again.

I see their pushing Steam more *sigh* by sticking the Wokrshop right in the Launcher now.

I don`t know what hold Steam has over these Devs, but when they go Steam they go for it like someone possessed. I`ve seen this with a lot of other games too.

There must be something really in it for them. And it didn`t cure my crash either, even with no Mods :(

My SKSE isn't working from it's usual Icon... must be something wrong with my set up. Do we still run it from the loader, or is it native now?

I usually fire up the drm (steam) and double click skse shortcut. Works fine.

We have to wait for a new skse as mine won`t work either unless I click the default and then mods that use skse won`t work.
