Updated to v1.05 and now the game is freezing again?

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 7:06 am

First off, I play on a PS3. But, Skyrim hasn't froze on me in quite some time until I downloaded the newest update. Now whenever I try to go into any water at all, the game freezes. If I stay out of the water, I can play for hours without one single hiccup. What the hell??? Any suggestions? I have 2 systems one has the original 80 gig HD, the other a 500 gig HD. I have deleted a ton of stuff to free up space (80 gig) and it still freezes. Just wondering if anyone else is having this problem since the release of 1.05?

Damn, I wish I remembered the fix for that, I'm sure someone else will link you to it or tell you how, unless they are doing it as I type this.

This is more of a "there is a fix" post. So don't worry. :)

I haven't been experiencing more or less lag/freezing on my PS3. I occasionally have to do a soft reset, but I think that is because my PS3 is coming to the end of it's life. PC is much more reliable, I'd advise you to switch to that.

I do have a gaming laptop that can handle the game no problem, but I bought it for the console anyways lol. I can't figure out how to do the mods on a PC. I'll have to search the boards when I get home and see if I can find this fix.

It's Bethesda, not your PS3.

I own a PS3 too, and this same stuff happens to me.

Basically.. PC users are obviously the most popular, and have the modding community, so they get their patches early and clean.

With Xbox it's the same, but not as early. Why? Because Microsoft are so competitive, that they have to 'buy out' their rights to getting DLC early and etc.

Now, for PS3. We get all of our patches LAST. We get no GOOD fixes. We still have FPS issues..

Bethesda... if it weren't against the rules to outright flame your dev team, I would've done it 5 weeks ago.

Google 'Bethblog' and read the update on patch 1.5 hitting consoles. That'll tell you how to clear your data and stop the water freezing glitch :)
Sad to hear that your PS3 is one of the ones being hit by glitches. It seems to be very random, in terms of which PS3s are affected and which aren't.

Reinstalling the Update will fix this issue. See the pinned thread in the section on your platform for how to do this.
