An updatepatch possibly?

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 12:28 am

Does anyone know if we will get an update or a patch soon, or if they're even working on one (particularly for Hearthfire)? I've seen quite the list of bugs/issues with the DLC and most people are having the same issues.

Most of the things people are having issues with in Hearthfire are not actually bugs though, so even if they could or would do a patch for the few minor glitches in the DLC, it would not fix what people are complaining about. I doubt they will do a patch.

I'd love it if they would, but I'm not counting on it. There's still so many bugs from the main game and Dawnguard that I think it's unlikely that they'll address the issues in a minor DLC like Hearthfire.

Only thing that annoys me is that there is an achievment for building on all three plots but until they release a patch i can only build two.

I expect 1.8 to be announced soon for Steam beta testing, which will eventually make its way onto consoles. I also expect that 1.8 will address more issues with vanilla Skyrim and Dawnguard. We probably won't see HF bug fixes until it is released on multiple platforms.

Shot in the dark, but if the third house is in Falkreath, I had a similar issue. By attempting to do ALL of the quests in the link below (not just the one for the Jarl), I managed to unlock the dialogue option to get land for and then build the third house. I was able to do all but one - and had ALREADY done the Jarl's - and then the dialogue option appeared.

They haven't even fixed many of Dawnguards glaring problems, what makes you think Hearthfire will get any attention?

Thanks the reply i will have another go when i get home but i'm sure i have done them all. One problem maybe though is that i think Captain Aldis might be dead as there is a sword and shield laying on the ground near the courtyard but im sure i gave him the book he was after before he died.

They might throw in a little something into a future game-wide Patch, but I wouldn't expect anything specific, OP.

Besides, like someone else mentioned, a lot of the things people are having issues with aren't actually bugs/glitches. They're just not doing said action(s) correctly, so it just seems like a bug/glitch as the game denies them what they want because the didn't do said thing correctly.

When I run into an issue, I find that if I slow down and think about what I did step-by-step, more often than not I'll see where I went wrong. Then I fix what I did and in what order and poof, problem solved.

I just hope 1.8 does more than 1.7 did. Release a patch that fixes basically nothing, gee thanks.

I'd look at Dawnguard for answers. If they patched DG, they'll like as not do the same with HF. If they didn't patch DG, well, life's hard. Just remember that some of us don't have either DLC yet!

I'm still waiting for tons of stuff to be patched in the base game...so let's just say if they skipped all that and just fixed the DLC's I'd be mighty pissed.

So what are the chief bugs? Here are the ones I'm aware of:

1. Game crashes when you interact with display cases.
2. Many people can't secure the Falkreath plot.
3. Some people have issues with the Pale plot.
4. Enemies in area continually respawn.
5. No adoption dialogue for Aventus (may have been deliberate).

What others?

There Will Probably Be A Patch every dlc. As I recently have played Oblivion, I kept getting patches.

Not all patio furniture showing up.
Most lighting not working. When you first walk into your home the lights next to the door work but most others don't.

Just keep putting them down. If Bethesda has people perusing these forums, they'll have a better idea what needs fixing.

What about the NPC pathing issue around Lakeview Manor? They seem to fine tune NPC issues every update, do you think this will be fixed?

I would love it if they let you change additions. Because I don't like my enchanters tower anymore. I would rather have a kitchen or bedrooms.

You get three chances to build the right house for yourself, and unlimited opportunities to replay the game a different way. I doubt they will be giving us a way to undo what we have built.

I hope they make a major patch with fixes for both DG and Hearthfire (although I haven't encountered a bug yet in Hearthfire) + bugs from the vanilla game.

Your option for doing that is the Load Game command. Save before you build, before you marry, and before you adopt. That way, if you discover your error, you can fix it.

Yeah, this is my general rule of thumb before starting any new content or DLC. You never know if you will make a terrible mistake or encounter a game-breaking bug. I've reloaded Hearthfire 7-8 times already. I have one main character that I like to experiment with before making any long-term commitments.
