Upgrading my computer case

Post » Wed Dec 07, 2011 3:15 am

So I was looking to upgrade my computer case by Christmas and I noticed tonight that my rear fan has died, so, naturally, I used this as an excuse to buy a new case now!

The case I currently have: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119068

What's in it:
Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-M57SLI-S4 AM2 NVIDIA
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 940 3.0GHz
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX470 1280MB
RAM: OCZ SLI-Ready Edition 8GB
PSU: OCZ GameXStream 700W ATX12V
2 hard drives and one DVD drive

It's a little cramped, so I'm looking for something a little bigger (18.90"L x 7.95"W x 17.13"H) and I'd prefer it to have a fan controller. Right now, the three fans (front, side, rear) are all plugged right into the PSU, so they're at full blast all the time. Quite noisy when all I'm doing is watching a movie. Trying to keep it around $100+shipping.

Thanks for the help!

EDIT: So, I had the side of my case off to work on another computer (their computer wouldn't boot, so I got the documents, music, pictures, etc. off of their computer by hooking up their hard drive to my motherboard and my power...it was interesting) and the fan is hooked into the same line as the rear fan. Apparently, both fans need to be plugged into the line for them to work. Who know. So, rear fan works. Regardless, help with choosing a new case will be helping regardless of when said case is purchased!

It's a bit bigger than your current case and also has holes to route cables behind the motherboard, saving even more space. About 11.5" of clearance for GPUs, so with the GTX 470 being 9.5" you'll have plenty of room. You'd even be able to rotate the HDD cage to allow for better airflow from the front intake fans. Of course it's a Lian Li, good build quality and nice looks. No fan controller though.
