I use to want horses and fast travel until I realized I paid

After about 75 hours of playing using Fast Travel and about 10 of those using a horse.....I realized I was missing out on all the fun.

I thought about it and I think I would still use a travel system like in Morrowind where you fast traveled from city to city or whatever, but other than that.....not anymore.

I was sticking to the roads on my horse and not picking herbs and killing things and finding dungeons and big cage type things with levers inside that look like they were built by dwarves......gotta find out how to open those.

Also, hats off to Bethesda. After about 75 hours I stopped playing for a while and thought I was done (at least for a long time). Recently I went back to college to finish and Skyrim is a great game to relax with, which in turn got me back into the whole of it.

Well personally I do find it can be more fun without fast travel. But I like riding a horse. It makes sense for long journeys. You can always get done to explore an area or pick flowers, check out interesting locations, etc.

Yeah, the great memory of Morrowind was walking the roads and seeing an NPC, and immediately going "OOH, A NEW QUEST/PERSON TO TALK TO!".

Once I started doing this in Skyrim, I got a similar feeling. Except 80% of the NPCs wanted to kill me just for having a pulse.

I only use fast travel for those quests you have to go back and forth to from one side of the map to the other.

Or when I'm short on time. Or when I want to finish a quest soon. I tend to end up in some cave fighting enemies and looking for loot when i play on foot

This is me as well.

TES games tend to teach you to prioritize or get overwhelmed with loot.

I agree, most of the action is on foot. I rule is I'll travel on foot until I encounter a bandit or dragon, afterwards use fast travel. At least I've gain some exp and cut back on travel time.

Sometimes my entire evening's play session consists of crossing the map, on foot, to get to where the next quest is telling me to go.
