I used to be a two-handed weapon kinda guy...

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 1:02 am

until I experienced the joy one can get out of shooting bandits in the face with your arrows. My two-handed weapon skill tree is at 49, while my archery is way down in the 20's. I'm looking to pump up my archery skill tree. any advice for a two-handed Nord warrior looking to branch out?

Keep launching those arrows, and stick to the shadows.

Archery is awesome. You will most likely be putting a lot of perks into it if you stay with it just because of the nature of the tree. I say use both if you can.

Feadel(sp), The elf in Riverwood. Do the letter quest and do it in Feadel's favor, he will now be your companion and train you +5 archery a level, that should help get it back up fast, after you have paid him, just trade with him and take your gold back :).

Also a funny thing you can do... sometimes I see these adventurers walk by... I shoot them in the knee.

Yeah last night I truly got a feel for archery while I was clearing out a fort with Lydia. I shot up a few bandits (never killed them), and then ran in screaming and waving my warhammer about like a crazy person.

It's incredibly useful on dragon lords like Morokei who don't seem to be able to figure out where those darn narrows are coming from.

I actually finished that quest awhile ago.......I, however, killed Faendal. For some reason I wasn't allowed to have a companion, so I figured Faendal must still think we're bros or something....so I went back to Riverwood and smashed his puny little face in. Lydia's my bro now.

It says quite a lot when a woman is more of a "bro" then Faendal, then again those two guys were both rather losers. Considering the PC can wow Camilla in 3 minutes flat XD.

so I just bashed Lydia's head in on the streets of Riften. A guard walked over and said "Poor soul, what a shame". I then received 300 gold from a courier. Hah. Marcurio is now my bro.

You know, I mostly play sword and board BUT in dungeons, I'll sneak about with the bow out. plunked some bandit that was sitting back to me and one shot killed her, someone else came up and I hit him once then drew steel and finished him off. (ok, so it helped that the bow had 15 fire damage until I destroyed it with enchanting...that was a mistake)

I'm a 2H kinda guy too... but I use bows all the time.

Melee specialists are foolish if they don't keep some kind of ranged backup ready.
I got 2H at around 70 with archery backing it up at a (imo) respectable high 50 (55-57 something like that).

I make sure that's backed up with quality gear, good enchanted bow, best arrows I can get and poison... love poison arrows.

In the field the bow is my default weapon, usually you can dust a creep long before he gets to you.
Thin out the mobs as they close in then draw steel.
In dungeons I sneak and shoot until I'm caught or encounter a crowd, or just feel like losing the plot a bit.

Then the greatsword comes out and all hell breaks lose.

Hire Stenvor in Windhelm. For the low, low price of 500G he'll merrily lug your crap around, greeting you with a cheery "Feel free to hand me all the gold you want Heh huh..." everytime.
