I'm PC user, should I wait some time before buying?

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 4:56 pm

I have been quietly observing the forum since release of Skyrim lol, I want to buy it but I have read about the mouse not really working well for the PC users. I remember when I got Oblivion I also had issue with mouse, but I downloaded a mod that fixed it. I have found some tricks you can do in various .ini files to make mouse work better, but there's still no good solution that addresses Y axis/X axis disparity. So I would like to ask you guys who are playing Skyrim on PC, is mouse controll working fine for you at the moment? Would you recommend me to wait until some patch/mod comes out to fix the mouse issue, or do you rather think it's a minor issue that doesn't really bother you?

Thanks!

The mouse works fine for me, but the UI is like a console so it's annoying to navigate.

It seems to be set up for gamepad control, where you just push one of the sticks side to side. It's a bit awkward trying to use a mouse, sometimes things on screen that appear to be buttons for the mouse are not, other times they are buttons :D Not a huge issue though (although some peole would say it is), you can get use to the clunkiness quickly ... and I'm sure mods will be out soon for a UI that works well with the PC.

As far as the mouse goes, I just maxed out the "look speed" (I think that was the name, it's not "mouse sensitivity" like you would expect), and it felt ok to me

The moust is almost perfectly fine. I set it to mid look speed on the options. My only compltaint is that the Y-Axis is somewhat slow, which is not much of a problem unless your fighting a airborne dragon.

I honestly think people that are complaining about the mouse just don't know how to turn the sensitivity up. That's all I had to do and it started working fine for me.

That said, the UI is pretty much made to be used with a thumbstick instead of a keyboard and mouse. It's not nearly gamebreaking though, and I got used to it pretty quick.

that kinda reminds me of the nano suit (crysis) when you select the suit mode, you have to use mouse to move to the right direction which is very awkward.

If you've played Assassin's Creed 2 you won't mind the interface at all.

lol. well I just hope Skyrim's horse handling is remotely like Assassin's creed 2. I like how the horses feel in that game.

I can't answer your mouse question, but I never buy games when they're first released.

I assume that they're somehow broken and wait a good while for the patch/es to accumlate before buying. It just doesnt' make sense to me; why would I shell out money and time when I don't know if I'll hit a nasty bug, get frstrated with crashes, etc.

Patience saves my blood pressure

Now I just wish they had "patches" for my kids :P

The good thing with PC issues, is they're usually fixable, and quite easily.

I changed/added a couple ini settings to fix the mouse and add some detail.

I will admit the negativity (After the Aussie unlock.) started to weigh on me before it unlocked (for me) but once it did, it was all for not.

The game is freaking amazing.
