Using flames spell on a lock will make it easier to pick?

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 1:31 am

I read one guide from internet where they clamed that heating a lock makes it easier to open. Is there any truth to this?

No, what they are refering to is a staff called Trollarox's Lock Breaker which when cast looks like a regular flame spell but when cast upon a lock it lowers the lock level, for instance cast it on a Master lock and it becomes an Adept lock ect.

I heard here on the forums that you can make lockpicking easier if you weild a torch. However, lock picking is not difficult enough to warrant trying.

Yea, I Actually enjoy running into a master lock. They actually take a bit of caution and thinking.

Heating lock, it not makes the lockpick open easier. Lockpick minigame is it's own little section.

Though would love to see bash return, if you exit and re-enter the lockpick mode the place the lock opens changes, or at least it did in Fallout 3.

Well, for instance the game cannot tell the difference between a lock and a door.

Pointing it at the lock would make no difference to pointing it at the middle of the door. It is all counted as one object.

The only exception is trapped locks, where you can cut off the string before attempting to pick the lock.

Explain to me HOW that would work.

I'd stick to the official guide, its much more helpful. Cause if you've been listening to advice like that you have been had. You should tell the guide writer they got it very wrong

Well, people make modifications to this game, which requires knowledge of how the game mechanics work. I have dabbled in modding myself, and I can guarantee you that the game doesnt even have code in place that would make this possible

And the reason you can't find it anymore is that it was wrong.
