Valenwood was featured in Arena, but not in detail.

I think there was an Oblivion mod that added Valenwood.

Arena is your official answer, though.

If you'd like a good picture of what the Valenwood forest is like you should read "A Dance in Fire" .. it's online if you don't want to search for all the volumes in the game.

I think the cities built in giant migrating trees would be very hard to realise in a video game. I can't quite picture how they could take a tree and then build a city in it and also not using any timber for structures (since Bosmer can't cut their trees). It would have to be very organic, pieces of the living tree would have to form the homes, businesses, temples and palace.

Valenwood or the Kahjiit homeland (Elsewyer [typo]) should be next place the TES should take in place. I always listen to the kahjiit elders talking about their distance lands where the sands have burried ancient cities. I'm like: Coooooolllll O.O

They got only one tree and it seems toi be rooted for the next few decades. I'm a big Bosmer lore buff and I really like to see a well done Valenwood game. More interesting would be Valenwood/Elsewyr skirmishes but with the refounding of the Aldmeri Dominion that sort of stopped :(

A Dance In Fire is indeed a great series to read to learn more about Bosmer and Valenwood.

That mod was never finished but some of us joined a new Skyrim project that should feature a Valenwood island down the line.

You can read a very interesting story that has to do with the culture of the Bosmer and Valenwood, called
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:A_Dance_in_Fire.

It would defintely be cool. Beth has tried their hand at living structures before like those Morrowind mushroom towns and the Shivering Isles root caverns. So I guess if they really put their minds to it they could pull off a really fantastic organic city.

I did think Falinesti was the only migrating tree-city but one of the Skyrim load-screens says that the cities (plural) of the Bosmer are built in migrating trees. So I guess many of their settlements are like that.

I read that too and that's the only mention of multiple that I ever found in the lore. Valenwood is a very interesting place, former Aldmeri ruines, their canabalistic customs, the Wild Hunt, their ruler and of course the Imga.

Valenwood is what I wish the Elder Scrolls: VI would be.

I want TES: Valenwood to be like Avatar, with the two sides being like the civil war questline in Skyrim. Including flying mounts.

Oh god, I'm going to be sick. :yuck:

It is the epitome of style over substance, so I don't want Dances with Wolves in Space Avatar infecting TES.

Is it that it has no substance, or you disagree with the substance?

Avatar has no substance, it's just a plagiarized Dances with Wolves (sci-fi edition) that has pretty graphics. Nothing original about the whole movie.

But this is a bit off-topic.

Its a good example of what a fantasy-world jungle could look like though. TES has always had its giant and glowing fungi so its not too far removed in style. Just like Skyrim was probably inspired partly by Lord of the Rings movies, I think they could look at movies like Avatar if they were designing jungle. Not to copy it, but just for inspiration.

Wait, what? Where did Skyrim get inspiration from LOTR?

Not the whole thing, but Whiterun and the surrounding region reminded me of that town in the second LOTR movie. The developers don't live in a vacuum, so I imagine they take some inspiration from movies and other video games.

I honestly really hope Valenwood is one of the next games. I would love to see the cities built into the largest trees of the forest.
