first, game won't load. second, GECK won't access falloutnv.esm. validation failed, waited while main .exe downloads. game starts, GECK still won't access the .esm file. re-install geck again (again, the 1.3 version) and problem persists. try validating again. validation fails AGAIN, but this time the file is not reacquired by steam like before. game broke again. GECK still useless.
so for now, i deleted all local resources through steam. suppose i will re-download all the files through steam again. guess i could install from disc, then update. not thinking it will matter at this point. is anyone else running the GECK successfully at this point? if so, are you able to access the original data or only your custom mods built with copies of the original data? does this even make sense?
why does a file i just redownloaded fail validation, and why can't i reacquire this file again? i know little about steam, really...once i got an xbox, i've switched to console gaming except for PC-only games like the witcher...which i got DRM-free from a good ol' website which distributes games DRM-free. that's just crazy talk! meh, if not for modding i have no real reason to buy games for the PC at all anymore except for the few games which are PC-only.
does bethesda have anyone concerned at all with this? if there is a fix in progress, great...otherwise, i just wasted 20 bucks for DLC i already have and can play on the xbox, thinking i could use the resources in my own mods. no other reason to have bought two copies of the DLC.
perhaps the devs could push the updated GECK through steam? most people wouldn't notice or care, except those who want to use it. you would, of course have to actually fix it first.
i realize brink is having its own issues. i don't care. i fear brink will have an insufficient single-player experience, so i'll avoid it - as with all other forced team games that are the trend with publishers. i don't have enough friends who game, especially who prefer all the same games as myself.
and i realize you just laid off most of your fallout staff...this means all the DLCs are essentially finished and are. you have any staff left over to deal with this game?
alright, i'll stop [censored]ing, hope for some actual info soon? uh...on a different note, the latest DLC was quite double plus good? right, then.
/wow, you censor [censored]ing! i'll use 'britching' or some such silly replacement in the future, then.
//gosh darn this motherfarking skit right to heck! frakkin' ash-holes! why not censor wtf, too?
///not really, just testing the censors, adopting some passable synonyms. ban?
