Vampire lords only suited to Mage type characters?

Seems like it even all their perks seem like. I mean its cool and all but vampires originally in this game gave the most to thief type characters so what do you think ? Sure you could make a dawnguard guy but meh.

Well yes. Werewolf that could cast magic would look ridicolous... atleast for me. It's fine as it is... Vamps for Casters / Werewolves for Melee (though werewolf is totaly useless later on... but that's being fixed by the new perks in the DLC)

Basically what Phoenix said.

Werewolves cater to the melee built, while vampires are more suited to spell-casters. Vampires have always been magic orriented, although they did have some stealth aspects.

Due to the Necromage perk applied to vampires, and the powers and bonuses, I would say vampires are already more suited towards a mage build, with a small sneak bonus added in.

That's not to say they aren't good for thief/assassin characters, especially considering the nature of those characters' typical nighttime activities and manipulation of people around them.

But still, I think both regular vamps and vampire lords will be best suited for magic users for the way they handle, but they could be very easily enjoyed by a melee or ranged character just as easily. The one missing piece of the puzzle so far is what negatives there are to being a VL. I'm very curious to see what those might be (if there even are any additional negative effects beyond what Stage 4 vampires already have, that is).

EDIT: @ above: A mage who goes werewolf is actually very powerful, considering the armor spells, illusion spells, etc. Also, potion use with alchemy works great for buffing werewolves as they are now. Of course, all of that will be much less relevant once we get the new perk tree.

Actually, mages make the best werewolves.
At least alteration, & destruction mages. Since they can cast cloak or flesh spells, & keep those active during a transformation.

Also, in my opinion vampirism has always been the greatest boon to Spellthief/Beguiler types who combine magic & stealth.

No, as in werewolf form, you don't have access to your equipment or spells, so even a mage could be a werewolf or a melee character can be a vampire lord.

Well in the trailer the Vampires seemed like Bad ass mofo's who went around slaughtering everyone which isn't really a thief or Mage. But the un-transformed vampire version does have a special relationship with thief characteristics

Yes I agree melee is more werewolf and vamp caster. However as was previously stated there is the stealth aspect to vampirism and if you combine the magic skills it gives you right it really does make stealth quite viable. However if u don't have previous stealth skills it is slightly difficult to pull it off. Feeding never being an issue though just make ur companion sleep and eat them lol.
