Very Under Appreciated Game

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 11:03 am

I have made several comments about this game in topics before and finally felt the need to make a topic about it.

I loved the hack and slash game http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viking:_Battle_for_Asgard for the 360. I played and beat it twice. Reason? THEY HAD A GOOD THING GOING!!!!!! I mean ya it was repetitive, and the graphics weren't super totally awesome, but sega had a good thing going with that game. I mean-

  • You could rescue all of your viking warriors from Hell's evil horde, and build up your armies
  • You could go and recruit dragons to help you fight Hell's army
  • There were levels where you actually had to sneak around and use strategies
  • When the battles came they were freaking huge mob battles that you could die as many times as you wanted and fight as long as you wanted until you decided to end it by killing the shamans
  • They had really cool boss battles, and even in the mob battles you could fight trolls, orcs, even generals!
  • You were a BA Viking!!!!!!

Now the Downsides-

  • Whenever you upgraded your sword, it didn't look any different
  • The voice acting wasn't the best, but it was tolerable
  • And yes it was repetitive
  • The graphics weren't the best

But I mean if they kept going with it, and made more, they could've had a good game series going IMO.

Have any of you played it? Your thoughts?

I played it. I liked it. A lot. I thought the graphics were awesome, and though it was a bit repetitive it never bothered me, I never got tired of slicing up my enemies in the name of the Thundergod. It was even better when my army of followers was slicing up demons along my side.

But the final battle
Spoiler
in front of Hell's castle, and the bossfight with Hell herself
were absolutely terrible and the ending of the story svcked.

really? I thought the boss battle was pretty good, but now come to think of it, it was pretty easy, and the story did just kind of end. But that's my point! If they kept going, I wouldn't doubt that their next game would've been awesome!

I never got tired of lopping off limbs, and fighting hords of demons either. It was very satisfying!

My housemate bought it, and got bored of it within a couple of days. I didn't play it myself but what I saw of it looked pretty lame. There's much better games out there for that sort of fun...

I remember this one. I picked this up a few years ago for only a few bucks. It really is a great game. The fighting is really good, and there is just something epic about the giant battles that take place.

I've seen it, never played it. If it's under 5 bucks next time I go to gamestop, I'll buy it.

For me it was especially that
Spoiler
just killing two giants and a few demons before you can enter Hell's stronghold was incredibly anticlimactic after the massive siege battle at the end of the previous zone.

I could've lived with the crappy ending, since the story wasn't all that fantastic to begin with, but the two things combined made sure I never picked it up again. A shame, cause I had a lot of fun playing it. Maybe this weekend again...

I still have that game. It was a pretty fun thing to play, though the combat got kind of repetitive, and the end of the game wasn't that great in my opinion. It sure was an easy game to 1000, so that was a major plus.

i would suggest it! its dirt cheap now. I got mine for under $15 like 2 years ago. so I'm guessing it's probably reaaaalllly cheap now.

Hmm. ok! but games like?

My friend used to have that game and played it alot up until his 360 and games got stolen.

that just plain svcks.... it's annoying when people don't want to work for things themselves then just steal someone else's hard earned anything. so friggin stupid...

the epic battles are what really kept me interested. I would sometimes play them for almost an hour each just going around and lopping off arms and heads. such a stress reliever!

I've seen it, never played it. If it's under 5 bucks next time I go to gamestop, I'll buy it.

it probably is. but I'm sure they will have it at game stop anymore. I haven't seen it at any I've gone to.

true. so if they made another game when Hell returns I wouldn't mind! haha but it's not going to happen....

Its worth a rental. I was surprised by the production value for such a "budget" game. Rented it when it came out. It might have been mindless action, but it was OK.

I've seen it, before, and I see it also a PS3 game, so I wouldn't mind trying it out if I can find it for a cheap price.

It was made by Creative Assembly so it has to be a decent game at least. I'll have to pick it up sometime.

I did the exact same thing! I had both those games side by side on the internet, and decided to go with Asgard because I am very fond of the medieval, fantasy time period.

weird...

And I went with the cyborg, futuristic setting for something different. Stupid me. Go with what you know.

You know, I wondered about that game. I've always been a fan of Conan, but was really unsure how that game would play out. I didn't want to get it and then be pissed off.

I rented both of those games together, and enjoyed both. Fast forward 8 months and now I own both. Very fun games actually..every hack n slash game I've played on the 360 I've enjoyed. (Sacred 2, Conan, Vikings, Too Human).

It's good imo, its a nice hack n slash with the humor and environments you would expect from the Conan universe, saving damsels, fighting giant beast of epic proportion, dismemberment, it adds in a few god of war inspired magic abilities and mechanics but over all id recommend it as at least a rental or a beat and trade in kind of thing, but i rarely ever replay hack n slash games.

I think my biggest problem with Too Human was the ending. I know it was supposed to be a trilogy, but the ending just left me wanting. The combat was cool, but I always found myself using a new weapon, which sounds like an odd problem to have, but, I don't know, it just bothered me.
