Recently, I've started to enjoy VGM more than actual music (not saying VGM isn't music, but I'm saying by artists).

So, what is your favorite song or soundtrack and from what game?

Morrowind obviously has a great soundtrack. Jeremy Soule in general make some great music.

The forest song in Chrono Trigger is one of my favorites. Its got a light jazz feel to it, and its got a funk bassline...It was way ahead of its time for sure.

Morrowind's soundtrack (aside from the combat) is flawless.

Starcraft's Protoss music is great too.

Diablo II's Lut Gholein and Harrogoth songs are also amazing.

The Final Fantasy VII piano version of the original scores are also worth a mention.

I feel a very strong connection with it that has nothing to do with the game, as I remember playing VtMB for the first time, and when I arrived in Hollywood and heard this music, I stopped playing and sat there for a very long time. If I had to pick a piece of music to describe my life or myself as a human being, it would probably be this.

Everyone loves an ice level, maybe. Metroid Prime's http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbbUv1hz6mE has exactly what is required, music that sounds like it was written for an ice level. keep things simple, you can't go wrong.

Final Fantasy VIII and X have some great songs on the soundtrack. Wingus listed some of them already, but not my favorite one ever. A Fleeting Dream. A runner up would have to be Suteki Da Ne. Such a beautiful song mixed with a beautiful scene.

Haha I should also mention Final Fantasy IX as well, because I really really loved the intro to the menu theme. I don't remember what it's called.

Morrowind's non battle music is spectacular. LOTRO has some awesome music as well, especially in the Shire places and Bree-Town. I really enjoy some of Guild Wars and Oblivion's music as well and basically anything Soule does.

Age of Conan has a couple great tunes and I agree with Harrogoth from Diablo 2 (although I thought it was Harrogath..not that it matters).

The music to Prey's main menu is epic too (again Soule)

Halo's soundtrack alone makes it stand above a lot of other FPSs.

Some racing games I've played have had awesome soundtracks from bands I love etc.

The Morrowind theme is epic, but I do have other VGM that I like.
