Once you have completed atleast one daedric quest, a courier tracks you down. This courier is carrying a note from a priest from the vigilants of stendarr faction.
The note asks you to find the priest in his chapel. Reading the note adds a map marker to the chapel which is attached to the vigilants of stendarr building.
Once finding the priest who is under heavy guard by members of the vigilants of stendarr, he tells you off a new craze that upcoming conjuration mages have been taking part in. It involves opening portals for daedra and the daedric lords have been using this new craze to possess the souls of those that take part. He tells you that with your experience of the daedric lords and the ways in which they work, you are the only person qualified to stop this.
1st Quest:
The priest asks you to recover a vial of liquid. This vial is actually called 'The Holy Water of Stendarr'. He offers you a vigilant of stendarr guard who is a new follower you can use but you can decline and go alone if you like.
Once retrieved the priest tells you that there is just one more item needed before you can get started.
2nd Quest:
The priest asks you to retrieve a weapon knowns as the blade of stendarr. This is a sword with a crucifix as a handle. Once retrieved the priest gives you more details.
3rd Quest:
The priest tells you that he has reports of daedric possession across skyrim and can send you in the right direction. The first is a Young woman who lives in a cottage near riften. You must attack the possessed soul with the blade of stendarr but only after it has been 'poisoned' with the holy water.
When you arrive at the cottage. The womans elderly parents greet you. They tell you the girl is in the basemant. They had to lock her in the basemant because they couldnt control her anymore.
The basemant is eearie, with cobwebs and only small amounts of candlelight. Skeevers (neutral) walk around and the place looks like it has been hit by a hurricane (tables and chairs upside down etc). Now...
Each of the possessed npcs will have something visually wrong about them. This first one will be charging up and down the room using the troll animation (another npc may be floatig using the lich type animation). The possessed npcs will also have a daedric symbol burnt onto their foreheads.
Initate dialogue with the npc and you will find the voice is not fitting of a young woman. After some dialogue (talking to the daedric lord) you will find yourself with choices (not sure what yet). The one choice you will always have is to attack, something along the lines of
'Its time to leave this persons body, i shall free this soul'
Then with the 'poisoned' blade of stendarr, you strike the npc. The npc will instantly fall to their knees in the same way an essential npc does in vanilla skyrim. This will trigger a conjuration portal and out comes the daedric lord who has been possessing the npc.
After battling with the daedric lord. The npc will be freed and thankyou. This is when you return to the priest who congratulates you, raises your status within the guild and gives you the next mission.
The choices when in dialogue with the possessed npcs will effect the way the quest goes but im not sure how yet. one option is that the daedric lord actually gets you to perform a task for them before they leave the soul.
Each time the priest raises your status within the guild, the guild building will improve (similar to theives guild quests).
There will also be other side quests and maybe a radiant quest when the guild quests are completed to hunt down conjuration mages willing to work for the daedric lords.
To be honest though, this is all just an idea and i have next to no modding skills. I am looking for someone interested who could carry this out, im speaking with a few people i know who mod skyrim but im not sure if they have plans of their own at the moment, so i thought id post this to get feedback on the idea and to see if i can grab the attention of any interested people.
