Vigilantes of Stendarr

Post » Fri Jun 01, 2012 12:46 pm

Somewhere close to Rebels Cairn i came across another VoS, standing, doing nothing but staring straight into the distance.

Within eyeshot, 20 metres or so their was a group of Forsworn bandits (who normally attack on sight) who were just staring at the Vigilante. When i approached the forsworn they just said "can we help you' etc.. very strange.

Odd even more, was the group of 4 Orc warriors who were just to the side of all this watching. They stood ground and only attacked when i was right next to them. So, me and mercurio take care of the 4 Orcs, with accidental melee damage involving the forsworn. Short story - all enemies dead.

VoS still standing their innocently. Whats the verdict on this scenario, is it as odd as i think ? I came away thinking it was something to do with the VoS, so i saved game and then attacked her, easy kill.... hmmm. Reload as not keen on killing vigilantes.

DLC for sure in the future for this group

I think the Vigilantes are one of the most useless faction in Skyrim, all they do is chase after the Daedric who is obviously tons more powerful than them. They are at best fighting bandits and wild animals...

They carry unenchanted mage hoods and a 10% block amulet. Both are useful and sought after items early in the game.

They're there for flavor.

That is a bizarre situation. Then again I've had forsworn spout out typical city npc one liners to my dead body after killing me so it wouldn't surprise me if a big allowed then to act normal while you're still alive.

I do see a Dlc coming for Vos, they have the headquarters with the named npc and everything. Figure they're gonna do something with that.

Also you can get a quest from a Vos in markarth so they aren't a complete waste.

I have never known forsworn to be friendly. That was the main thing.

Federally, i'd appreciate the location of the HQ and quest for VoS.

I'm not in game now so can't look at map for the Hq location. However the quest is I Markarth, there is a Vos member outside of a home, I saw him during daylight, talk to him and her mentions suspecting they owner of daedra worship and offers a quest. I turned it down, I'm a vampire so I stay away from vos, so I don't know what it consisted of.

They'll cure you of any diseases you have if you aak them to. But yeah, I think they'll be the topic of a DLC in the future as right now they are just for atmosphere.

I've been to the Hall of the Vigilant, and I haven't found any quests related to them. It was pretty disappointing.

The quest starts in front of a house in Markarth with a VoS asking you to help him because there's a problem with the house he's standing in front of.

Spoiler
It's actually a Daedric Quest for the Mace of Molag Bol.

That quest doesn't actually interact at all with the Hall or any of the Vigilants other than the one that enters the house.

The only thing the Vigilents of Stendarr are good for is loot taking, just be careful of Vigilant Tyrannus if you go on a killing streak at their headquarters and tower due to him being essential if you didn't start the quest that involves Tyrannus.

If you go into that house it starts a quest but not for the VoS... it's for the daedric prince that has a statue inside. amazing mace. lol

Hey now, I was fighting a bear and contracted a disease. I was in the middle of no-where and then I ran into one of these Vigilantes. He mentioned my "foul disease" and I asked him if he could heal me, which he did! So, they are not all that useless LOL

They are evil and a bunch of hypocrites. I love slaughtering them with my werewolf and vampire characters!

Me to, after doing the mine escape quest where you got the armor of the old gods I thought they was an friendly or neutral faction and walked into an Forsworn camp and was forced to reload.

I hate how they claim to be followers of the God of Mercy, yet carry out "blind justice". Plus whats with the line "May Stendarr have mercy on you for the vilgil has none to spare" Surely they should and shouldn't be saying it to anyone. Such a huge dissappointment when you check out the headquarters your told about, find a unique npc and they have nothing new to say or any quests for you, they could have easily been option to deal with daedra in the opposite way. And they could do without psychically knowing you've helped a daedra not always considered evil that benifits the world and eases suffering caused yet trying to kill you anyway.

I've had non hostile forsworn, think it's a glitch, I've had vampires too.

Evil? Not really, some possibly. Misguided and potentially hypocritical? Yes. They fight vampires which are, other than the PC in this game, evil and hostile to everyone. Werewolves, like the Companions, are sometimes good but surely there are some feral ones that need handling. At least they don't seem as focused to eliminate werewolves as the Silver Hand, haven't seen any of their bases with torture chambers yet. Daedra worshippers are also good (or at least not evil) depending on the Daedric Prince in question, but the only actual daedra I see them confront is in Markarth, otherwise daedra are quite rare.

What's more troubling is the fact that they give no quarter yet are devoted to the God of Mercy :P. That needs to change, or they shouldn't be associated with Stendarr. Maybe any possible DLC could allow us lead them on the right path, away from their current Knight Templarish zealotry.

If you talk to them and ask about their operations in Skyrim, they will mark their HQ on your map. Also, I'd LOVE to join the vigilants. I hope a DLC allows it to happen.

Ah ok, thanks guys. I have actually done that markaath quest with the statue inisde the house.

The forsworn females look hot, shame they seem like cannibals/mad max etc.

I'd like to see the VoS in action though, have yet to see any proof of ability etc.
