Vigilants of Stendar

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 7:13 am

I'm not sure why Bethesda left out the option to join the Vigilants but I was wondering if anyone had the answer?

I also would like to know how many people would want to join them, to help in their efforts to destroy daedra and all the things they consider bad?

I know I would, and that could have added tons of material to the game such as adding more dremora. Although I do not necessarily want a ton in the game, it would have been cool to have a few quests where you had to slay some Dremora. I know there is a quest that does this, but it's just one quest and I really enjoyed that quest.

I know oblivion had them by the ton, but the reaosn I want them more in Skyrim is for their difficulty they bring. They also have a mean look to them that bandits and other characters just lack.

Anyways back to the Vigilants, I really am baffled by the fact you cannot join them! I would like some dlc that lets your join them.

I would join them on certain characters, this is a good idea. What do you mean by destroy the daedra though? Surely you bean banish their worship in Skyrim?

I daresay we're going to see some DLC involving them - at the moment, they do nothing but sit in the Hall of the Vigilant or wander Skyrim. I'm not sure I'd want to join them, but it'd be nice to have the option!

I meant dremora sorry not Daedra. Daedra are basically the gods, correct?

I hope some dlc does something with them, I want to destroy vampires, dremora, etc.

The Daedric Princes are the Gods, they are the greater daedra. The dremora are still daedra, but just lesser daedra.

I hate them, so I would only join them to kill them. Werewolves have rights, too! Their whole you get no mercy unless we say so thing annoys me, too. Why should mercy be refused if you have a curse like being a lycan that you didn't ask for? What if this Lycan is in the wilderness away from civilization so they won't hurt anyone?

Their little hall? Yeah, that is empty now in my game. Maybe that mass murder wasn't such a good way to show mercy while in werewolf form... They tasted good, though.

Ok. I still want to destroy some more.

Can't the Daedric Princes be killed too? And are they all male? Because I was playing the other day and one of the load screens was talking about a daedric prince but the statue was clearly a woman since it had boobs. and longer hair. I'm assuming the statue was not meant to go with the tidbit of info on the load screen

Would be neat if they were featured in a DLC. My ancient vampire character would love to gnaw on hordes of 'em.

This exact philosophy is why they exist. People with your ideas who think that a werewolf can really live in peace alone is wrong. And yeah you didn't want the curse but there is a way to get rid of the curse. They believe that such creatures have caused way to much harm to let live, and you have proved why this is true.

now I'm speaking as if we were really alive in skyrim, so please do not be offended by my post.

There are 16 Daedric Princes, I think all of them you can contact to in Skyrim. While they are called 'princes', they can appear as anything, male or female. They can not be killed. In fact, there are no daedra or demora that can be actually killed, they are just banished and sent back to Oblivion.

Thanks for the clarification.

So the divines cannot even "kill" or "banish" them?

when a deadra's shell is broken (which can be litterally anything) thier immortal soul is sent back to the "waters of oblivion" to be reformed, but since the et'ada did not make any other et'ada i dont think aedra could destory deadric souls (or vice-versa), just a theory since it is never made explicitly clear (almost nothign ever is)

I bet the "Dawnguard" expansion will remedy this. The expansion will probably be based around the things that go "bump in the night", and the Vigilants of Stendarr attempting to oppose them. Like Lamae Beolfag awakening from a centuries long slumber, and whipping the Vampire Clans of Skyrim into a frenzy, where the Sanguinare and Volkihar compete against each other. They launch increasingly frequent and brutal attacks on not only each other, but also the mortal settlements in an attempt to earn Lamae's favor. You can fast travel to a settlement at night, and instead of a Dragon popping up and attacking the town, there's a pack of Vampires running through the streets murdering people. Join either the Volkihar (Warrior Clan) or Sanguinare (Stealth Clan) as a Vampire, with their own distinct bloodline bonuses/penalties, or join the Vigilants of Stendarr as a mortal.

A Daedric Prince cannot be killed. There are forms of banishment however.

Anyway I would also like to join the Vigilants of Stendar. I'm hoping there will be a DLC or at least a mod for that. I think it's just not in the game because they just didn't have time to create a questline.

But some of my characters would think it would be great to join the Vigilants... that they may smite the vile otherworldly vermin that seek to defile the plane of Mundus.

I normally use Daedra for the creatures. Dremoras, Daedroths, Daedra Spiders, Scamps, Atronachs, Clannfears, Hellhounds, etc.

I use Daedric Prince for the Gods.

Anyways, No. I will not join them cause I am always a Werewolf and they insulted me. But I do agree with them because I am a Good Guy. Werewolves can be good!

~Edit~

After reading some more posts. Correction! There are 17 Daedric Princes but only 16 are contacted in Skyrim!

I know that is one thing I don't like.. I could have used my were powers to help but they wouldn't have any of it! Maybe they could make it were we could be the leader and change that rule and when they say no change into a werewolf to prove their best follower was actually a werewolf.

and then they'd all attack you probably but hey you tried.

Yeah, I see where you going at. It is hard to play as a Good Werewolf but it is fun to try. Be something that is feared but only ends up using the power for good, not evil. Ignore the innocent and defeat the evil then run away.

The thing is, in order to really face the challenges of being a "Good Werewolf" you need to forcibly change yourself at night and kill at least one person per night. If you don't want to be that challenged, then at least once a week. Furthermore, you should attack the first non-tainted person you see, so you would need to trek into the wilderness before you turned, in order to simulate abandoning civilization temporarily, so as not to hurt anyone you love. Finally, it would also make sense to turn whenever you're in a desperate fight, as your anger and predatory instinct take over (though this may cause those nearby to turn against you).

If you can do all this without killing innocents and without being revealed, you're a Good Werewolf. Otherwise, you're a Dovahkiin with spectacular powers and force of will that allow you alarming clarity while being a werewolf.

A "Tamed" Werewolf, like the Companions, do not need to feed nor are forced to change. The Dragonborn becomes a "Tamed" Werewolf thus doesn't need to worry about this and only uses the power to kill a "Bad Guy" and save the day, hoping the innocents would get it and run away to home sweet home.

Well, bit of offtop but I've read that vigilants of Stendarr will attack player if s/he is wearing full set of daedric armor.
But what is this?

I am sitting there with full set of daedric armor and spawned dremora outside and entered their hq. And they still give me advices how bad daedras are and how they will take me back to bright side. Maybe khajits tail gives them a clue? but dremora :o

Deadra are not fixed gender. They can manifest as either six and do. The Deadra and Aedra make up the gods of the TES world and you have no chance to even scratch one, let alone destroy one. Upset Sheogoath, you meet him in the game, and he commonly teleports you to about 1000 ft and ... well that's it ... isn't it.

Well, it is technicly possible to kill a daedra, but it requires the gods aid.
Spoiler
The Divine Crusader killed Umaril who had bound his soul to Oblivion with the aid of Talos.

On topic: I would love some DLC where I can join the Vigilants of Stendarr.
