Vilified with the Legion am I able to continue with House's

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 3:19 am

Ok so I have been traveling with Boone, and he don\t like the Legion so I have been gaining negative rep with them to where I am now vilified. Is there anyway to get into the fort to continue "The House Always Wins" quests? I can disguise myself and get into the fort but the dogs and guards keep ratting me out. Can I put them all down to get into the bunker and use the chip or will that break something later in the game? I could sneak in I guess but I'm guessing that Caesar in always guarded and would also end up being hostile.

Did you get approached by the guy who gives you Caesar's mark and invites you to his camp? That removes all the crimes you've committed against the Legion, so presumably it makes you neutral. I don't know what triggers that but I'm assuming it's when you get the mission from the NCR ambassador. So try talking to him and see if this guy approaches you. But then drop Boone because it's apparently a one time deal.

Sneak past the guards and dogs. When I did it, only one patrol got in my way. And I just snuck past them.

I have the mark of Caesar which I got after catching up with Benny in the Tops casino, nice suit btw, but I still get get attacked. I became vilified after this point. I'll break out a few stealth boys and go that route, thanks.

You still get attacked. That would be because you ran around with Boone after getting it.

The Mark of Caesar only gives you neutral rep for that immediate moment. As soon as you do anything to lower your rep with the legion after getting the mark, you have no recourse to gain rep back.

So then is the only option to put down everyone in the camp? I can roll back to an old save but I think that might be around 7 or 8 levels back.

Again thanks for the replies

The option is to leave Boone at home, go in disguised, and sneak past a very few guard dogs.

Well I tried the disguise and stealth boy approach, no luck...
I settled on the brute force option using HE grenades and the grenade machine gun, that approach worked like a charm. Caesar was a megalomaniac anyway. :D

Yup in your situation I would just suggest that you lvl up doing brotherhood quests, get power armor training, find a nice suit of power armor, and kick Legion posterior up and down the entire fort :D

It's funny also that House makes a comment like "I knew Caesar would give you back the Platinum chip", not even acknowledging the possibility that you simply fought your way to the bunker :)

If you kill Benny in the Tops and then immediately go to Fortification Hill and kill Caesar you get two Platinum Chips :)

Wonder why Mr. House is so giddy about it when apparently they're so abundant :whisper:

Edit: Also, I annihilated Cottonwood Cove before I even entered the Strip for the first time, and I never got approached by Vulpes to get the Mark of Caesar. I was really sad, 'cause I kind of wanted to talk to him :sadvaultboy:

I slaughtered Cottonwood Cove on my last playthrough and still got invited by Vulpes Inculta. I was actually a terror against the Legion prior to that point, it's a wonder I let Vulpes Inculta live that playthrough. I wiped out Nelson, killed Legion wherever I saw them (and didn't think the odds were too much in their favor). Caesar commented on all this when we met, and *kidded* about having me killed. I ended up, on that character, completing Veni, Vedi, Veci. I'm sure Gannon didn't like that, but he didn't say anything.
