Waging War in TES

I liked how in Skyrim you could align with the Imperial Legions or the Stormcloaks, and fight for Skyrim, and the victor would control all of Skyrim.

And recently, I encountered an Orc Stronghold, and completed the Forsworn Conspiracy.

I was just wondering what everyone else thought of an idea I got:

What if you could align with any faction, and take over Skyrim? For example, say you're an Orc; you can join the Orc Strongholds and conquer Skyrim. Or say you're a Dunmer; you could get some Dunmer and conquer Skyrim. Same goes with Argonians, or even Khajiit.

And not necessarily Skyrim, that was just an example. All I am saying is, would it not be cool if you could lead your race in a war to gain control of certain regions?

Well I don't think it's possible , the Empire is well , empire , it has Thousands of people in it's lines.
Stormcloaks too , maybe not thousands but it has enough to create a whole politic group ( or rebellion )
Now Strongholds , there are only three ( as far as I know ) and the maximum you can gather will be a few hundred people.
Same goes with the others..

They could've done a LOT more with the orc strongholds. They should each have their own storylines (or at the very least radiant quests) for the player to complete. Right now they just house a couple of crappy merchants, a mine and a chief who you can brawl with. Aside from those people, there aren't even any orcs who live there! Each stronghold only has 5 or 6 orcs living in it.

Maybe the orcs in the Reach could be at war with the forsworn, or the ones in the Rift at war with the giants. Perhaps they could all be at war with the Nords?

Overall, orc strongholds left me profoundly disappointed.

The Forsworn storyline as well leaves a lot to be desired. What is there is quite enjoyable, but what isn't there is disappointing. It bemuses me to think why Bethesda didn't continue the storyline for such a large and important faction in the lore. It would be quite interesting if the player could flee into the mountains of the Reach with Madanach after escaping the mines and become a forsworn outlaw; a choice that means you are no longer welcome in Nord cities (or just Markarth) and are welcomed into some kind of Forsworn capital. This would also ally you with the hagravens, of course.

Overall, Skyrim leaves a lot to be desired story-wise. Factions are far too shallow, and the consequences of race are not at all what was promised; you get only a few different dialogue lines spouted at you and the story advances exactly the same. Why can an elf join the stormcloaks just as easily as a nord? Why can a non-orc enter a stronghold after only one trivial fetch quest? These are questions that need to be answered.

I never really felt the urge to do this in Skyrim, and wasn't too fond of Imperials or the Stormcloaks.

I did want to in new vegas though -might be slightly off topic, i know- i always did want to take on of the weaker factions in the game into a more powerful role

The orcs don't really want to bother anyone. They always get the land they should call home ransacked more often than someone loses their marbles in a mental institution. I don't think even Skyrim born and bred orcs of the strongholds would want to risk going through that. The Forsworn should have been given more storyline, but I don't see why an orc would want to take over Skyrim when they already have strongholds that are thousands of years old there.

The orcs wouldn't necessarily be fighting a war of conquest. Perhaps they could be defending their territory or preemptively taking out forsworn/nord compounds?

Makes more sense now. This is the more likely event, at least to me. I can't imagine why they'd have contempt for the nords who simply leave them alone, though. Orcs seem to be pretty accepted in Skyrim considering how much crap all the races put up with there. This might just be more due to their smithing skills than living there so long.
