Waking Nightmare (bug)

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 12:48 am

I did this quest on my 1st character no problem. that was well before the latest patch.

Im at the point where Erandur is supposed to lead me/follow me to the library except, he doesn't lead me anywhere he either walks halway up the stairs and gets stuck (loaded 2 diff saves and he went to the same spot and couldnt move past it) or he doesn't move from the doorway with the barrier @ the bottom of the stairs.

any ideas? This is very early in the quest, and a tiny, annoying glitch.

I didn't have any problems with this quest on the one toon which did it. Have you tried bumping him?

Yup. He's gone.

I've had this quest marker for a long time, now. He never reappears at the inn or anything. It's a bug with no resolution.

Which svcks. I had hoped to have him as a follower.

If you're on the PC, try using the console to disable and enable him Might get him unstuck.

Or, like Serethil said, try bumping him up there. Try sprinitng into him or using Unrelenting Force

sadly Im to poor to afford a proper gaming PC, xbox for me.

I reloaded to the spot right outside before you go in, ill ignore the quest for now seeing as ive done it on another character, but i did not think of using my shouts (idk why, i only have 3 at level 40, havent even visited the graybeards lol)

thanks for the suggestions!

i have similar bugs, the way I resolved it, is to nudge/push him toward the destination/target location.

stand near to him, then rush/sprint him, this should nudge/push him.

I pushed him up to the destinantion and at one point he started walknig. I finshed the quest in my 2 games. First time I had no problems. Second time i had to push him and the quest progressed normaly.

I had this exact problem with the King of the Forsworn in Markarth, until I noticed that I hadn't clicked on each line in our conversation. ;)

... until I noticed that I hadn't clicked on each line in our conversation.

I was watching a chum of mine play and he hit exactly the problem described by the OP. He also clipped the speech short. Being a very impatient fellow, he gets bored waiting for NPCs to finish and frequently tries to click through their speech or, even knowing what's coming, tab out of it altogether. He frequently has problems with quests not starting or not progressing, I am certain the two facts are linked

I had the same bug the second time I tried this quest (which I think is pretty cool btw). My daughter did, too. Looked it up on UESP yesterday and it suggests repeatedly sprinting into him to push him toward the door or fus-roing him toward the door. I'm not in a place in my game where I can do this for a while, but I'd be interested in hearing if it works.
