j-walking, window-lickers & friendly-fire

anyone else think the friendly fire system s a little unfair?

it really should take into consideration which player moved and where rather then placing the blame with the shooter regardless of what happened. if your muzzle sweeps into / over another player it's your fault but if the other player walks in front of you while you are firing at a fixed position it's their fault.

what i am getting at is i shoot medics & operatives on a regular basis ... medics especially.

thoughts?

Medics shouldn't be out i n front of everyone... it will happen with operatives who are doing their job right... its just part of the game... don't fret over it so much... its the human variable... if people complain when they run in front of you and die just either ignore them or tell them to watch where they're running

no worries about them complaining ... to be honest ... i'm the one who should be upset because its my score that takes the hit for their mistake .... not theirs

the more i think about it the more i realize that the friendly fire concept was about as thought through as the lobby system for console.

friendly fire" is suppose to make the game more challenging for everyone. the problem is that the primary role for two of the four classes don't involve shooting the enemy.

ALL classes shoot at the enemy and ALL classes have ways of playing that don't involve them directly shooting at enemies.

Why was this not thought out? the way friendly fire works in Brink is the same as it is in any shooter I've played that has friendly fire, most reciently Bad Company 2 and Black Ops, both punish the shooter NOT the guy who runs into the bullets.

I have always prefered the concept that CoD somtimes implements where friendly fire is reflected back at the shooter, but I know alot of people that don't like that also . . . oh well can't please everone eh :)

it's safe to say that each party is responsible 50% of the time so punishing both the shooter & the player that was shot actually makes a lot of sense. i say kill them both.

if you really want to reinforce the issue take 20xp away from every player on the team.

Getting TK'd is all part of my gaming experience. If I accidentally run in front of a gotlung on full blast, that's only my fault. But when a friendly sniper blows my head off, that's something to get PO'd about. For goodness sake, the enemy GLOWS RED! How can they not see that? To add on, they look absolutely NOTHING like me, so tell me why would you shoot somebody that looks relatively similar to you, and not somebody who looks nothing like you?! Could you be griefing, or is it pure idiocy?

i was referring to situation you first described where you ran in front of a friendly Uncle Gazpacho (minigun)

the odds of them making any changes to how the FF system works is slim to none. to be honest i probably have a better chance of seeing a leprechaun while riding a unicorn down the yellow brick road ... having said that my point is moot.

This doesn't make a lick of sense. Why should the entire team be penalized by friendly fire? While there are times where a teamate runs in front of your fire, this is almost always unintentionally. More often than not same team deaths are caused by the shooter and in situations where it isn't, it's the responsibility of the shooter to be aware of what he is shooting at. If you see a teamate running in front of where you are shooting, move out of your teamates way and/or stop firing.
