Walmart 360 Pre-Order Bonus Gone

Post » Mon May 02, 2011 9:03 pm

I went to the link from the fallout new vegas page to the Walmart pre-order with the caravan package, and they no longer have that listed for the 360.

Does anyone know if they are stiff offering it, or if there is anyway to still get it? I would rather pre-order from walmart as the game is a few bucks cheaper, and the caravan pre-order bonus is more appealing to me then the others offered. That and I can get the game from Walmart at midnight.

PS I am posting this in a new thread as I didn't really find a recent thread (the ones in search came up from over 2 weeks ago), and noticed a few days ago that Walmart did still have the bonus listed for 360, but when I went to check yesterday, it was no longer listed. Should have ordered it before then but I wanted to check out the other bonus packs first. Dang research!

I think it's a bit late to be preordering, the game is out in a day or two. I'd imagine most retailers will stop allowing preorders.

The game is out in 27 hours. It is too late to pre-order from brick and mortar retailers.

They need at least a week to order the game and get it shipped to them. They had to take whatever pre-orders they had gotten at that point and order based on that number.

The only way to still pre-order is for a digital copy from some place like Steam, but that is only for the PC version.

You will just have to go to the store on release day and hope they have an extra copy. You missed out on the pre-order bonus I'm afraid.

They need 3 business days to pre-order. Even if you did now, it wouldn't arrive on time.

Ive preorderd at gamestop 6 hours before release before. And they usually have so many bonuses you get one regardless. But they do know me there. I would never set foot in a walmart, so no clue how they handle it.

Yeah gamestop usually lets you pre-order pretty much right up until the launch date. I've pre-ordered other 360 and PC box set games from Walmart and Bestbuy a few hours before as well.

The pre-orders are really more for the developer/publisher then the retail stores. The retail store copies for pre-order and same day launch are exactly the same. They issue pre-orders from their general stock. If you have a "pre-order" you get the bonus...

Also, Bestbuy, GameStop and Walmart usually all allow you to pre-order online and pick it up in the store on launch day... sometimes even at midnight if they are having a launch party (Halo 3 ODST and Reach were both done that way).

At least out here where I live that is.

depends on the store I guess, I bought a used Mass Effect 2 and they gave me 4 codes to unlock there Cerberus network which is usually $15 standalone, sure the first 2 didn't work and I'm not sure about the 4th, but it was cool that they gave me the codes even when buying used.

Edit: from gamestop

I ordered an extra copy from Walmart, if you want it. With the caravan pack.

Gamestop likes to overstock their preorders so its not a big deal to them but places like walmart only get the amount that is preorderd when they place the store order so they will have a 3 day before release deadline.

I pre-ordered the game from Gamestop and am picking it up tonight (at midnight) but if you want to sell the caravan pack code, that would be cool. I wanted that bonus instead of the one I got from gamestop.

This was awesome! The guy who wrote the official strategy guide was at the gamestop I pre-ordered from. Got a copy of the book and had him sign it. He's a pretty cool guy, gave a lot of tips and tricks.

Really nice guy, indeed. I talked with him quite a bit in Vegas over the weekend. I take it you're somewhere near Portland.

Yeah, I am on the outskirts of Portland. I pre-ordered from the shop he was at, but didn't know he was going to be there until the 18th. He really is a pretty nice guy. Very personable and friendly.
