Here's an interesting story... I'm a little fuzzy on the details as it was a long time ago, but I'll give it my best shot.
I was playing a relatively new character and had just begun the Dark Brotherhood questline. I had Sven as a follower because I needed an easily acquirable, high damage threshold companion. I told him to wait outside the gates to Solitude, as this quest required a bit of stealth, something Sven is certainly not known for. I completed my objective, professionally dispatching Vittoria Vicci. This made my bounty in Solitude skyrocket, and the guards were instantly on my tail. I parkoured the hell out of town, stopping only to alert Sven that it was time to go. He decided to to ignore me and stay to fend off the hordes of guards. "He will die honorably, then" I thought as I left him behind. A few of the town guards rejected the battle with Sven and pursued me instead. Being a low level, I had little stamina and was unable to get too far ahead of them. Eventually, I unintentionally stumbled into a Necromancer-occupied fortress, with the guard following right behind me. I began to attack them, only to find myself ridiculously outnumbered. Then, to make matters worse, the guards arrived, still intent on killing me. Thankfully, they first directed their attention to the necromancers. With only a sliver of health left, I made my way to a nearby boulder, staying just out of sight of the combatants in this enormous battle. I was just far enough out of the way that I was able to use the "wait" feature. I waited for an hour to restore my health. When I came to, everything was silent. I could not hear the clashing of swords and spraying of flames anymore. I cautiously crept back to the battlefield to assess the situation. There, standing in the center of a pile of dead guards and necromancers, was Sven. He had done what I could not. More notably, he saved my ass. And I never took him for granted again.
So there you have it. One of my interesting Elder Scrolls anecdotes.
