I'm using windows 7 premium and I have an I5 processor and an ATI mobility radeon HD 5650

What I need to know is if my card is compatible after buying fallout 3 and had constant errors due to my card, Anyone give me any insight?

Your card is suitable to run both FO3 and FNV. I doubt your past error for FO3 had anything to do with your card

The only potential problem you face is with drivers. Not all laptop builders follow either the reference sample design, or the official source driver files, resulting in potential driver conflicts when your system's producer has blocked his GPU from using the official drivers, while not keeping his own drivers up to date.

The reference Mobile card was well above the games' actual minimums, and if you have update access to nVIDIA's own drivers, you should have been able to run Fallout 3. There is really very little difference in the hardware demands of the two games.

Hmmm it could be the drivers even though it says I'm completely up to date.. I'll have to check up on some of that thanks for the insight.

You can't trust the Microsoft Windows Updates to include the very latest drivers. If your laptop's producer didn't block the GPU from using the official drivers, you need to go direct to the top level source, where AMD and / or nVIDIA offer the downloads themselves.

Very well said. The easiest way I find out if there are new drivers out is to just google the thing in question, say "Sound Blaster Audigy ZS 8900 drivers" It usually displays the companies direct page for the drivers or close to it and other sites that have it also.

It's relatively simple, and if the driver install gives you the option... do "Clean Install". It removes all the old junk completely.

I always run CCleaner after these installs/updates/etc also to clear out the garbage. There are lots of lose ends Windows leaves when it patches or updates things that will slow your computer down significantly. You should see how slow my wife's laptop is :rolleyes: I have told her what not to do to keep from getting it though and told her I will only do it 2x a year so she is out of luck.

Also if your relying on Windows to get those drivers your probably using it for other things so while were at it... Auslogics Disc Defrag. I LOVE it much more than the windows one. Both this and CCleaner are free, don't pay for them unless it's a donation to the author.
