I want to cleanse Riften

Post » Mon Jun 04, 2012 7:31 pm

My character was a bounty hunter going from city to city for a few coins, until i saw how horrible Riften was Mjoll the Lioness impressed me with her determination to cleanse Riften i've decided to help her and countless other wh are practicly begging me for help.

Heres where im at.

I've killed almost all bandits near Riften.

I've killed two member of the Black Briar ( the guy whos in jail and Black Briars daughter).

killed evreyone in the rathole who's not essential.

did bunch of other misc quest.

My problem is i dont know if it's even possible to stop the horror in Riften, i'd be glad to know if there is any scenario in the game where you cleanse Riften.

You killed Maven's daughter?

She's not corrupt like the rest of her family. All she does is get training at the alchemy shop.

That's unjustified murder.

its implied ignun experiments with small animals in ways most would find disturbing if not inhumane, however, definately not enough to justify murder.

cleansing corruption through murder seems like a strange way to view the world.

I'll admit, I like Ingun. She's certainly more personable than her mother. But there is one common alchemic effect in those ingredients she wants you to gather. And its not a nice one.

As for cleansing it, I dont think theres any official quest. Besides, one of the complaints about quests seems to be little or no reaction from people as to what you've done. I've gotten a few comments about things like restoring the Gildergreen, or exposing the Forsworn Conspiracy, though.

She said she wanted to be part of a darker circle then her mother.

That makes her death justifiable i think.

Really? Killing citzens? That hardly seems justfied. Just because one character is making potions with a damage health effect does not mean that they are planning to kill everyone. Hell, what if she was mixing these with other igredients in order to make postive potions. Nirnroot does have a Invisbilty effect.

And where did you get the line? I recall no mention of wanting to be part of a darker circle. In fact, she tries to avoid her mothers ways. Sibbi? He's already in jail. Do you really need to kill him?

This is turning from cleansing to Murder.

You can do Riften's Spread the Love quest. This involves handing out religious fliers to all the horrible npcs in Riften telling them to embrace the love of the goddess Mara. Some of the NPC responses are very funny.

She said she wanted to be darker then her mother, maybe i misheard her but if you want to be darker then Maven Black Briar then you are evil.

and Sibbi? Have you seen him? he's sitting in the lap of luxery. a cushy cell with only the best wines, i wish i was in that guys position.

Murder is still murder. If a bandit is coming at you with a battleaxe it is understandable that you will defend yourself.

But to murder someone who has no way of defending themselves is cold-blooded. In a way, you have become that which you are trying to destroy.

Well Sibbi....

Yeah, he did deserve it. I know a worse fate for him. He wants you to find a ex-lover of his...
Now I won't tell you where see is, but when you find her, she begs for you not to tell him. He plans to kill her. When you come back to Sibbi, tell him she is Morrowind.

Now I'm sure you know, with the Eruption of Red Mountain, Morrowind is even more a wasteland. Sibbi would spend his years looking for her until his untimely deah.

And Ingun? I'm pretty sure she said she did not want to be as dark as her mother.

Maybe but its just a game, and the Black Briars practice the most hanious of crimes i mean they have body parts in there house, and murder people evreyday. My character was a bounty hunter before he decided to clean up Riften so i guess he's just the ani-hero they need.

Well of course it's a game silly!

Anyways, it seems as if you murder Ingun just because of her family. And they are more involved with theft rather than murder.

Maven tried to preform the Black Sacrment, and failed. She is contact with the Dark Brotherhood, but only so much so as any other citzen of Skyrim.

Sibbi and Maven? Need to go.

Ingun and....uh....Hemming I think?

They are not to bad. No need to murder them.

I do find it rather interesting to hear about your character becoming the thing he hates :P

Maybe she got them from those meadery workers who were dumped into lake Rumaire

I'm with you, OP. In my case, it's the corrupt citizens of Markarth who need to be cleansed. I believe in a better world through chemistry. To that end, I've made a gift of my special frenzy + damage health homebrew placed into the pockets of many, many wicked souls. Maybe I'll turn my attention to Riften next...

I don't think Maven would kill people. She get;s people to kill people for her. Coward. But smart.

And by lore, it is common with the Black Sacrement to get the....resources by grave robbing.

Partially this. His character sounds crazy. OP himself? Seems like a nice guy.

So your saying she's not a murderer just cause she wont get her hands dirty? come on admit it she is a murderer.

I never said she wasn't a murder. She still sent someone out the "deal" with someone she see's as a foe. She's a cowardly murderer.

Unrelated, but....

The DB is a questline you can't miss.

You killed a person locked up in jail & an alchemist based off first looks. The Nazis did the same basically, good job.

On topic.

There is no way to stop the corruption in Riften, the only thing you can do to make sure it stays there is by not doing the thieve's guild quest line.

You can eliminate the Dark Brotherhood which would weaken Maven Blackbriar since she relies on them. Check out the locked room in her basemant.

Some other ideas to get back at Maven: steal her prize horse (the Louis Letrush quest), clear out her home in a burglary, pickpocket her house-key so she can't go home, help her daughter out with alchemy (since Maven hates it), and smuggle some black mead for one of her stealing employees.

Not doing the Thieves Guild quests means they remain cursed and generally useless. You can also intervene to get the stablehand off the hook with the Thieves Guild heavies.

Help out the good npcs like Mjoll who needs her sword returned. Presumably that will lift her spirits and help her keep a better watch on the town.

Do the quests for the priestess of Mara which presumably brings a few of the Riftenites back to the church.

Please don't compare the horrors of Nazi Germany to someone killing two corrupt NPCs in a elder scroll game. I know it's the thing now to just call anyone america sees as unfit a nazi but just stop. It belittles the horrors and evil committed in the name of the third reich.

Sounds like plain old vigilantism to me, going on some killing spree to 'cleanse' is not the right path. Kill these people for any reason you want but dont try to claim the moral high road or justice is all I ask because what you are doing is neither.

And side note, no Maven is not a murderer. Because she doesnt commit it herself that means she is not a murderer, she is an accessory to murder and she be brought to justice but that does not necessarily mean summary execution.
