I want a high X% Magic Regen: loot or enchant?

Post » Tue May 29, 2012 4:06 am

So far, i bought a ring that has 80% increased in magic regeneration, from a general goods store, for only 900+ gold.
and then i was like "What the...!!! That's 59% MORE than what i enchanted on my ring with a GRAND SOUL GEM!!!"

to all those people who know, i would like to know if i am to MAX OUT Enchant Skill, can i get better % of magic regeneration?
better than 80%???

It's possible to reduce magic to 0 cast, not sure if it's magic in general or one magic tree.

You can fortify enchant over 100% - and you can get the perk to put 2 enchantments on individual items. You might not be able to get up to 100% increase like artifact/unique items have but you can get pretty close to 85% I beleive using potions to fortify your enchantment and you can also put second enchantments on at the same time. Sacrificing some mana regen for those other bonuses is probably a good trade off.

It's possible to reduce magic to 0 cast, not sure if it's magic in general or one magic tree.

The enchantments that do that are for individual trees, and it generally takes for instances of them (sometimes 3) to do it. You could obviously do it for more than one school, but it will eat up most of your slots doing so.

Yes. If you combine enchanting with alchemy then you can make stronger equipment than anything you find in the game.

Ring and amulet. If the option to enchant is greyed out that means the player is not allowed to use those enchantments on that particular piece. Try another piece of gear.

Good thread, I've been wondering about these ideas for my mage. I'm almost rich enough to start tinkering with gear and seeing what else works for me.

Side question: Does anyone know if there are +enchant gear in the game? I haven't seen any yet.

In case you haven't seen posts on this already - mana bonuses only provide useful improvement outside of combat (and the regen is already so quick outside of combat it's a waste to enhance it). It is far more useful to enchant items that reduce the cost of spell casting (as someone has pointed out, a combination of 4 items with 25% reduced spell casting will get you to 0 casting cost - you'll need 100 enchanting for that, or use enchanting potions).

this is something to bear in mind for sure . Some would say magic regenration looks and sounds good but is in fact a complete waste of time , not sure i would go that far but it isnt as good as it sounds , i think more magicka or spell reduction costs are better.

With enchanting and min/maxing the way it works it kinda is like cheating and makes the game far too easy . Fair play if you like that but just a warning it really is a big flaw in the system thats basically cheating. I'm not saying you shouldnt do it :) , just dont di it then post in a week "this game is too easy" thread :).

Just finished my superbuild Warrior/Assassin. Maxed Enchanting and smithing allows me to craft stuff you would only dream of finding in some run-down shop, without going to far like in that other thread.

Examples of my work

101 damage Daedric Sword with Fire damage 25 points and Ice damage 25 points with 98 charges

135 damage Daedric bow with same enchantments as sword with 101 charges.

Sooo much better than the store bought crap.

I have enchanted gear with +Magicka regen and with 100 enchanting and +32% enchanting potion I can only get armor to hit 72% magicka regen whereas you can buy expert robes with 150%? (or is it 125%?) Unless you do the fort restoration exploit I don't think you can top 80% magicka regen on a single item. Even my ring I enchanted is +72%.

Yup.

And read up on mana regeneration post above, I'm one of those that thinks it is pretty useless as well. Free spell castings is much more effective than mana regen in Skyrim.

magic regeneration is one of the ones where you can buy more powerful ones then you can enchant. It was done to give incentive to not wear armor, however regeneration bonus only happens outside of battle. Better off just reducing the cost of 1 or 2 magic schools to zero.

magic regen is only usefull for high elves becuase they can get the higborn active bonus that multiplies your current mana regen by 10 times.
So If you get your mana regen in-fight back up to 3% ( you need 200% mana regen gear total ) then with highborn your gonna regen 30% of you total mana per second for 60 seconds total.

Still near zero or zero mana cost >> mana regen hands down.

I had a much better time increasing total magic, not the regen, also some decreases helped, but until you're able to get to 0% cast, try mainly boosting total magic and using the stone that gives mana, reduces regen rate, and absorbs 50% of incoming magic. I can't remember what it's called. But this worked really well for me.
