I want to join the Brotherhood of Darkness ...

Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 9:39 am

But my character isnt stealthy in ANY way

for what ever reason I've changed my stealthy stick shooting assassin play style for a playstyle similar to that one Orc in the Oblivion Dark Bortherhood (cept I use magic not brute strength) my character is noisy loud and extremly dangerous when provoked

in past Elder Scrolls games my character would be silent sneaky and deadly with out any provocation and rarely used magic

so how do I join the Dark Brotherhood of skyrim my journal is so clogged with quest i dont eevn know where to begin I forget teh town teh necromancer is in and even if i foudn it im not even sure if the marker would point the way because soem quest it does others it doesnt

does stealth matter to the Dark Brotherhood in Skyrim as much as it did in Oblivion ?

Well then make a stealthy stick shooting assassin? Or join them and don't give a crap about stealth and just hack their heads off. That works too.
Also don't you mean the Dark Brotherhood?

You dont really need to be stealthy, the only real differance it wlll make is that you may end up having to pay a fine or serve some time
more often

yeah its not the same as in Oblivion, the DB has fallen into shambles. There are only a handful of kills were stealth really comes in handy.

A wee guy in Windhelm tries to summon them, you take the contract instead, they then give you a letter, you rest in a bed and WOLA!

Just do the quest line you will quickly understand what I mean. I dont want to ruin it for you, and I hope no one else on the boards does either.

"need advice heh? bah just do what i do. walk right up to the person, introduce urself, then melt thier skin off and run liek the wind" he was the only one i really liked when u first joined up.

Some of the marks you can con into attacking you first, so killing them is self defense. Most won't though.

As far as joining, it starts either with a rumor in any tavern, or a guy near the entrance to Riften. Either mentions a boy in Windhelm performing the black sacrement to summon the dark brotherhood. Go to the boy, take his contract, kill the mark. In a couple of days, you will get a message by courier that just say, "We Know". After that, all you have to do is go to sleep, and they will kidnap you. It's easy to figure out from that point.

Interesting to note that when you kill the mark you need to in order to start the DB quests, you won't get any bounty, even if you stroll in, and wack off her head in broad daylight with the kids watching.

The pickpocket perk for potions can be very very handy for some sneaky kills. ;)

To start the DB quest line:
Talk to the Aretino boy.
Do the job.
Talk the Arentino boy again and get paid - this is important - the quest line will not continue until you get paid by the boy.
Sleep anywhere.

if you don't sleep after getting paid, eventually a courrier will give you a note about "we know", but that isn't required for the next step. Just go ahead and sleep. From there, I think you'll be able to figure out what to do next.
