Brink had the potential to be amazing. I ignored the reviews on the internet saying the story was lacking, because I bought the game for online play - but online play is pathetic. Even the 'big teams' mode usually only has 3 human players, and the rest of the game is full of pathetically easy bots. It feels like I'm playing against meat sims in Perfect Dark on N64.
REMOVE THE BOTS! Don't just make them harder!!! I would rather play against 1 or 2 human opponents in a game than play against AI. AI is for campaign or offline gameplay - No matter how hard they play, or how 'smart' they're coded, they're still just practice targets and nothing more.
Honestly Splash Damage - I still rank one of the best games I've ever played as Wolfenstein Enemy Territory. I was expecting this to be what the preview videos showed, which I was expecting a Wolf ET like objective based online game play with a good theme and some character customisation. Instead, because of the addition of bots to online games, obviously to pad out servers, I feel like I'm playing a Nintendo 64 game. In my opinion, this game is actually a few steps back from WolfET.
I just hope somebody can take the idea of the only good part of this game (the SMART system) and put it in to a worth while game.
I just hope I can pull it out of the back of the drawer enough times in the next 6 months to at least get 8 hours of game play total and try to make it not a complete waste of time.
I hope some decent patches will be sent out to fix all of the issues.
