I want to revert to the 1.3 patch

Post » Mon May 28, 2012 2:26 pm

My game was perfect. Ran smoothly.. No crashes and no freezes at all.. It was fixed for me..
Now with 1.3.10 it is broken. I have to play in windowed mode. Even in windowed mode it freezes .
It crashes too if I play full screen.

I'm frustrated and would like to go back to perfection ..1.3

Is this possible?

This was the one and only time I did not back everything up before updating... I'm kicking myself every day for that..

Please let me know..

Thanks

It definitely is possible if you can find the files. I myself downgraded to 1.2 after thinking 1.3.10 was the root of my problems. It wasn't but just wanted to mention that its possible.

1.3.10.0 didn't change anything except add the LAA flag to the executable and fix some extended characters for subtitles. If upgrading from 1.3.7.0 to 1.3.10.0 made the game less stable for, you may need to stop using the 3rd party LAA fix or disable some mods.

There was no "1.3" patch, and it doesn't seem like reverting to 1.3.7.0 would solve your problems.

This last patch broke my game.
The patch before that had it running as smooth as butter..

It's broken now

It wasn't broken with the previous patch..
I don't really care if you believe me or not.. I want to revert.. Back to when it ran smoothly with no freezing and no crashing.. I never had a single crash before this last patch.

Are you really sure that is all they did? Are you on their staff? You know for sure that is all? I'm not the only one who's game is broken now.

Won't steam try to update the files again though?

Lot's of people have problems with various combinations of patch level and computer set-ups. I have several problems since 1.2 that weren't fixed by 1.3. On the steam forums there are files for reverting back to 1.1; maybe try that. Good luck.

Oops, I meant to say 1.1 instead of 1.2 in my post. I couldn't find any other version other than 1.1.

Are you using any mods? The LAA patch should either increase stability or keep it the same. It can't make it worse.

A lot of peopla assumes that if Bethesda has add LAA in the last patch, it couldn't give different problems than the previous version with the LAA patch, but they surelly do aditional changes to ensure that it works OK and that didn't break Steam in any way. Those changes could create conflicts where the LAA patch didn't.

Besides, when someone has problems, telling him/her "you can't have problems" can only be considered a phanatical posture. Another thing would be when someone ask, "could I have problems", but if the person talking has experienced those problems first hand, there is not telling imposible.

Oh. I almost forget it. I think vista and 7 do backups automatically. Maybe you have your 1.3 version yet avaliable.

Your efforts will be better served by looking at resolving your stability issues with the current version rather than reverting to a previous patch. The 1.4.x.x update is likely to include a lot of content (i.e. quest) fixes and I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't want that so helping you cling to 1.1 or 1.3.7.0 is not really helping you.

You say the game crashes and freezes under 1.3.10.0. One thing the launcher does when it is updated is rebuild your INI files. To be safe, you should probably move/delete your INI files (from \documents\my games\skyrim and from \program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\skyrim) and let the launcher recreate them. After your hardware is re-detected and the INI files are created, and you launch the game to make sure it works, you can reapply any INI changes.

I'm not interested in helping you revert to a previous version when there's no well-known reason to do so (unlike the 1.2 -> 1.1 revert). I'm far more interested in providing you a solution that will allow you to successfully run the game with future updates. Following the above procedure is a good start to at least eliminate possible causes for increased instability.

If you refuse to look for a solution under the current (and future) game version, I'll respect your decision, even if I don't understand or agree with it.

May be irrelevant, but just a pointer:

Many people experience CTD problems, which seem to begin suddenly when their save files reach the upper teens of MB in size, but the apparent threshold size can vary. You could have a look at how large your saves are, and also experiment playing from an earlier save. If this is your issue, then reverting to an earlier game version would be pointless

The Official LAA Patch conflicts with the Community made one. If you have the community made one, then remove that.

Noticed that you are running an older card (9500GT). Did you recently update your graphic driver? Some older cards have problems running newer drivers.

Ex. my card isn't stable with drivers above 258.96 so you may want to experiment with earlier drivers.

Deleted them. Let steam verify files. Started with steam on and let ini files make new..
Went into offline mode. Really really not sure why this would do anything at all since they are
not any different than they were when Bethesda created them..
I have not changed them at all.

Froze about one minute into the game when i stepped out of the interior to the exterior.
Froze again while trying to fast travel to Morthal.
Froze again immediately after saving the game...

-lol-
But this is all my problem right? Why can no one accept that this last patch screwed up the game for many?

And these are freezes while in Windowed mode.

Save for my current character is 5.41 mb
Save for my Nord is 9.33mb
Save for my Orc is 9.73mb

just a question... what are you using to launch the game?

Uhm the Steam shortcut to the Skyrim launcher .. -lol- why?

The Official LAA Patch conflicts with the Community made one. If you have the community made one, then remove that.

I never once even looked at that mod.. Much less used it.. I'm pretty sure someone like me would not benefit from it..

Update my Graphics card over one year ago.. Why?

Professional came to install it... My drivers are fine ...-smh-

All updated .. Professionally.. -lol-
============

Now that we are all done with that.

As I stated to begin with..

I want to revert to the previous patch... I will find a way to do this...

Oh and for the record I ask Boris for the update for his patch and He can not use this last patch either... So ENB is not uptated to use with this.. It saved me last time.. 1.1

But nothing now...

I saw some pretty good advice thrown your way mate, and pretty diplomatically put by some of these people considering the terse responses.

Good luck.

So you're using drivers from a year ago? That could be an issue. There have been several drivers released for both nVidea and AMD to give better performance with skyrim, you may want to try them and see if it helps any. It's just good practice to keep your drivers up to date anyway.

Here is what I think.. Since we must talk about it.. Instead of what I posted wanting to do..

I think the people with 64 bit and lots of ram had one problem .. It was solved by LAA ..It was broken by the other stuff done.

I think people like me with 32 bit had another problem that was solved by the previous patch and now broken again by LAA and whatever else they did..

I think the various 64 bit and 32 bit should have choices on which things to download..

That is my opinion..

I'll try to find what I want to do somewhere else.. Thanks.

I'm sure you don't realize this but there's nothing any of us can do other than to help try to resolve the underlining problem to the best of our abilities and as free time permits. It's obvious that you only want one thing and one thing only but we simply can't help you with that. Any attempt for us to post links to such files will be removed (I've tried) as they want you to be running the latest version downloaded via Steam. To accomplish what you want someone would have to post files that are against the rules for us to post so you'll just have to rely on your own Internet detective work.

If you change your mind however and you want us (the players) to try and figure this out with you then please come back and we'll see what can be done. Outside of that you're on your own. Best of luck with that.
